Games Beaten

...nothing. One of those months! There have been several of those this year. I started playing Luigi's Mansion with my kids and that would have been easy to finish but we kept getting an error in the area after the first big boss Frown

Games Bought

First of all in October was the Shadowkeep expansion for Destiny 2 (PS4). More on that below. I picked up a cheap copy of Resident Evil VII (PS4), thinking I'd play through it for October...but I didn't. My wife downloaded A Hat in Time (Switch)—she loves those nostagic 3D platformers—and bought an old copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King (GBA), which is suppose to be pretty good and serves as a prequel to the movie. My copy of River City Girls (Switch) arrived from Limited Run Games. Gonna play that with my wife once I finish some of these other Switch games finished up. Speaking of which, last of all, I got a used copy of Astral Chain, yet another reason my Switch will continue to see constant use into the indefinite future. Nothing for me from PS+ this month.

Games Being Played

-Destiny 2: Shadowkeep (PS4)

Much like the Rise of Iron expansion for Destiny 1, Shadowkeep feels like a stopgap as we wait for Destiny 3—the Shadowkeep story feels straight up like the Destiny 3 prologue—but it did finally bring back Eris Morn and introduce the Darkness that has been chasing the Traveler, and there is no shortage of things to do.

-Final Fantasy Adventure (Switch)

I had hoped to get this one done but it has proved a little longer than I'd expected and my free time has proved shorter.

-Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (Switch)

I got back into this game in a big way and at the beginning of November they released a big patch that greatly improved the performance on Switch. I think I'm at about 66% map completion. I even got a Symphony of the Night-style bad ending.

-Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3)

Almost done with Hard difficulty with the Wingdiver.

I'm hoping to pick up Astral Chain very soon, looks like such a great action game!

Too bad about your copy of LM3, I just beat the game, really fun. Hoping to finish a few games before the end of the year.

I was talking about the orginal Luigi's Mansion. I thought it was the GameCube at first because the error was not happening in the same spot each time but I tried other games and they worked fine, so...?

This has been a rough year for me when it comes to gaming. Definitely my lowest number of games beaten in recent years.

Hopefully you get to play Luigi's Mansion 3 soon!  That game has so much personality!  There's talks about Illuminaiton making a Mario movie, but I don't know why they don't do a Luigi's Mansion movie instead.  Way more movie material to work with in that one.

I'm working on reviewing a 3-D platformer your wife might like.  It's called New Super Lucky's Tale.  I've been enjoying it so far, much, much more than I did A Hat in Time.

It never occurred to me till you said something but yes, Luigi's Mansion would be great movie material!

I got through most of the levels on Hard in EDF 2025. I thought I could get them all but a few of them were really tricky. I was really disappointed because I only had 3 or 4 levels left.

Sometimes you really have to grind for armor, which is a drag.

I had so much armor. Some levels have so many enemies though, I couldn't kill them fast enough.

I played a little of RE7 on PSVR, but it made me extremely nauseous. It took me about an hour to feel better. I think because it's fully 3D and the frame rate is low, but I don't know. I'd like to play it regular to check it out. Heard it's good.

I'd love to play River City Girls. I loved the original despite its flaws back in the day.

It's like that quote from Jurassic Park. Capcom was so preoccupied with whether or not they could get RE7 running in VR they never stopped to ask if they should. Seems like that is definitely not the way to play it!
