Games Beaten

-SteamWorld Dig (Vita)

Steamworld Dig has a wonderful game loop. You go dig up some stuff, sell it to upgrade your town, buy new stuff for your character, and head back out. It's quite satisfying. The backtracking to town can be a little annoying sometimes, depending where you are, but that's not a big gripe. The upgrades are fun and the game is not too long (could be a little longer, really). I do wish there were some more boss battles but it's a very enjoyable game, all told. A real gem to...dig into Wink

Game Bought

In February I bought a copy of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition (Switch), which has a very long title. I'm sure they were just trying to illustrate the nature of the quest. My copy of Return of the Obra Dinn (Switch) arrived from Limited Run. Looking forward to playing that eventually. It's about a merchant ship presumed lost at sea that suddenly appears at port with everyone aboard dead. As the insurance adjustor, you must figure out what happened. My wife gave into her western open world RPG cravings again and downloaded Skyrim (PS4). It happened to be heavily on sale at the time, which was a nice coincidence. Otherwise it was just the PS+ games for PS4: Control: Ultimate Edition and Concrete Genie.

Games Being Played

Between the busyness of life and playing that Taito collection for BaD, playing games in general kind of by the wayside in February. The games I play regularly with others—Destiny 2 and Dragon's Crown Pro—were still played but Octopath Traveler and Sakura Wars suffered from my decreased time. I'd really like to plough through Sakura Wars in particular this month (Octopath continues to be a loooong term project). We'll see if I'm able to make that happen.

Dragon Quest XI is so good, you will really like it. I beat the game in about 60 hours, but that was without doing any side quests or extra stuff. It's far more relaxing of a JRPG than Octopath.

No side quests?!? I don't think I could stay so focused lol.

I love the graphics in those SteamWorld games.

SteamWorld Dig was the first of that loose series that I've played. I'd like to play all the others eventually.

I played SteamWorld Dig on the Wii U.  It was fun, but I got to a point where I fell really far and didn't know that would happen and didn't bring any warping tools with me so I couldn't get back up to the top, so I stopped playing.

In February I beat Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity!  Aside from the games I review and my daily dose of Animal Crossing, I've been really sinking my teeth into Ys 9 on my days off.

There's a self-destruct feature in Steamworld Dig that, I think, is specifically for when you get stuck. I don't think I ever used it but my kids did when they tried it. Got themselves stuck pretty frequently.
