Games Beaten

-Samurai Aces (Switch)

Samurai Aces is a game from a mold. It feels very much like its sister game Gunbird but with a mythical Chinese theme instead of a steampunk Japanese one, though it still had a lot of mech bosses lol. It plays identically with Gunbird but I don't like the levels or bosses as much. It felt harder and less friendly and I felt no urge to play it multiple times, unlike Gunbird or Strikers 1945. It is competent and mechanically sound but very by the numbers and stale.

Games Bought

April, compared to March, was such a simple month of purchases. Both involved my wife finding things at thrift shops. First there was Fire Emblem Warriors (Switch) brand new—still sealed— for $10 and later she found Troll and I (Switch), which intrigued her enough top spend the $1 it cost lol. It appears to be some sort of action adventure game where you control a human and a big troll creature. Supposedly pretty decent. And that's it! Surprised

Games Being Played

-Sakura Wars (PS4)

I made great progress on this game through most of the month, getting to the end of Chapter 6 (there are...7 or 8 chapters...can't remember which). The busyness of life has kept me from playing this last week or so but hopefully I can get back to it soon.

-Dragon's Crown Pro (PS4)

The road to Platinum has stalled out a little bit. I have three trophies left to get before that last pop and they're tough or tedious.

-Picross S2 (Switch)

Picross S2

I'm over halfway through the normal puzzles!

-Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (Switch)

Finally started this game. I miss the pixel art but the new graphics are certainly gorgeous. Not sure yet how I feel about the structure of the game—looks like going back into previously beaten levels with new abilities is a big part of the game—but it plays as well as ever and still has a great sense of humor.

I really dig mythical Chinese fantasy. I've been meaning to play Jade Empire (I have it on my ipad) but I keep putting it off.

I've been sampling a bunch of stuff, but most seriously playing GTA5, RDR2, and Tales of Zestriria.

With the roll you've been on lately of finishing games, now might be a great time to finally plunge into Jade Empire!

Right now I'm playing New Pokemon Snap!  It's great so far!

We're going to give that to my oldest son for his birthday, but that's a little ways off still. I've heard really good things about that game so far!

Half-Genie Hero is great, I beat it last year. It's a bit different from other Shantae games, but it's still stellar. Just picked up New Pokemon Snap, it's very relaxing and fun.

Finding time to play lately has been a problem again but I've enjoyed what I've played. I do appreciate that they've made each game noticeably different rather than cranking out too similar games a la Mega Man NES. Have you played Seven Sirens already?

Yes. Now that I think about it, I think I mixed them up. Last year I beat Seven Sirens and I beat Half-Genie Hero the year before, I think. Anyways, the two are different and both good. Worth beating.

Troll and I looks interesting and it's on other systems as well. I might have to check it out.
