Games Beaten

-Rayman Legends (Wii U)

Rayman Legends puts on a very silly front but it is serious about platforming. The game controls well and does a good job of changing up the objectives and styles of play in the levels to keep things interesting. There is so much content too! Plus I love quality of life design decisions, like eliminating lives entirely. But that is not to say that the game is without challenge. Far from it! But it was a good zone-out game for me, and sometimes that is what you need.

Games Bought

For November "bought" isn't really the right word. I grabbed a couple of the PS+ games but these are very much "Oh, why not?" rather than "Oh yeah! Can't wait!" kind of games for me. Mafia II: Definitive Edition is an open world period piece crime drama that people seem to like. As for Aliens: Fireteam Elite, well, I like the license and maybe I'll really need a filler multiplayer shooter at some point?

Games Being Played

-The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch)

Well, it only took 30 hours but Tears of the Kingdom finally pulled me in. I've completed three temples and am getting ready to head to the Gerudo region to do the fourth one but I keep getting distracted, as one does in this game. And with a maxed-out stamina meter and weapons that can actually hurt things, I am really enjoying myself!

-Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (Switch)

Not gonna happen this month, I'm sure, but we really are close to the end of this long long long game.

-Depixtion (Switch)

This has taken a bit of a back seat as I've been playing TotK even in bed, which is fine. Not like I'm gonna forget how to play it lol.

-Destiny 2 (PS5)

New season!

"puts on a very silly front but it is serious about platforming" is a perfect way of describing Rayman Origins/Legends games.

Amazing how Destiny 2 just keeps going.

The big expansion for Destiny 2 coming out next year will be the culmination of the entire story thus far. I'm very interested to see how that goes and what they will do after it.

I reviewed the Rayman Legends/Origins games.  They really do have tight controls and rival the Mario games in some ways.

You're doing really good on Zelda if you're only 30 hours in and have already beaten three temples.  It took me 100 hours in a span of two months to beat that game!

My Switch tells me I'm at 55 hours in Tears of the Kingdom. What I meant (and I see I worded that badly) is that I was kind of playing out of obligation until about the 30 hour mark. I thought the first ten or so hours were kind of a slog and even after that I kept thinking, "Everybody really loves this game. I'm sure it's about to get amazing any time now." And while I think this is a great game—heck, we could even capitalize it—this is a Great Game, I don't think it lives up to the insane hype heaped on it.

Yeah it certainly didn't win my GOTY award on my newest blog.  But it's still pretty on up there.
