Backloggery

I've mentioned Backloggery.com quite a few times around PixlBit. I've been using it since the beginning of the year and it's really helped me stay focused and finish games in my backlog. For most of that time, though, my only friend on there was ShoeShiner who was actually the one that encouraged me to try it out back when we were still on 1UP. Then a little while back I found out my friend Aboboisdaman had started a backloggery account and since then it seems like whenever I turn around someone else is mentioning the site or posting links to their collections or whatever. So, how many of you are on there? Post a link in the comments to your backloggery page and tell us what you're using it for (to keep track of your game collection or to help you finish games or whatever).

To get things started here's mine. I'm just trying to whittle down the number of games in my backlog. I tend to start a game and then get distracted by another game before finishing the first one. Backloggery keeps me from forgetting about things and it's nice to know what games I've actually played this month (everything turns into a blur so fast lol).

So what about the rest of you guys?

I'm getting more and more tempted to try it.  How does it help?

You mark which games you're playing and they all appear at the top of your backloggery home page. It gives you a spot to update your progress and so you can easily see if you haven't played a certain game in two weeks or whatever. It's also a deterrent from trying to play 17 games at once lol. It's also nice if you wanna start a new game to be able to see all your options in one place.

yeah I'm the guy playing 17 games at once, alright.  Hmm I might try it.

Here's mine. I'm using it to help keep me focused. It's also a nice way to keep tabs of your collection. I've beaten most of those games at some point in my life, but not since I bought them again after all these years. Plus it helps me to resist buying new games.... although I did just buy some NES games lol. Foot in Mouth

NES games, your one weakness lol

I am basically using mine to get the most out of my currently owned games by beating or completing them. I might also start using it as a way of telling me where I'm supposed to go for when I come back to a game, which I always have trouble with, using the dialogue box.

Looks like you have a pretty manageable backlog (at least compared to mine lol) but you don't have anything in the Now Playing section. Are you just between games or are you not bothering with that?

I'm just not bothering with that. I update once I've beaten or completed something, cause it adds to that achievement feeling, but I know what I'm playing, so I don't feel the need to post it there.

sorry wont be joining it anytime soon. I already have my hands full as it is with blog ideas and mirror blogs to three diffrent sites. And that's not including comment on blogs and comments made to those various sites.

but it makes me wish some website would incorprate those concepts from backloggery.com that have a link feature that tracks the games you pay on XBL and PSN. It won't work that well with retro consoles but it would help in me not keeping track of it so often like blog posts and comments.

Initially setting up the account is a little time consuming because you have to add all your games but after that upkeep is pretty easy. You definitely sound pretty busy, though, so it's understandable if you don't want to invest that initial chunk of time. It's just interesting to see what others are playing and how they're progressing in those games.

I don't have an account. Atleast not yet, as now i'm interested in creating an acount there to keep track of my games and hopefully like everyone else, get concentrated in completing unfinished games, as i'm also the kind of guy that leaves games halfway.

You should give it a try. It's been very helpful for me.

I have finished 5 games since I first logged onto Backloggery, and am working my way through the 6th, crysis 2.  I like the focus that the sight has given me.

Cool beans. Yeah, I don't remember how I came across you on there but I've got you in my multitap.

Been working on mine a little and it's not too bad so far. I've only scratched the surface as I estimate about 320 games if not a few more. A lot of my PS2 and XBOX games are finished, though. That will help my dismal rating!

I noticed there's a "smartcelt" on there. Is that you? You should post a link!

Might do that when I finally get all my games up. I think it will be a real eye opener upon completion.

Am I reading this correctly 93% uncompleted? Yikes! I don't really have a backlog. I play one or two games at a time and almost always finish them before picking up more games. The only game I can think of that I've left on the backburner is Yoshi's Island for GBA. Though I wasn't really a fan of that one in comparison to previous Mario games.

daftman

Yeeeeaaaah, it does say 93% unfinished. But I only put games in there that I hadn't played yet, so really that's not so bad lol

I just made a list of all of the games I currently own so I will have to get onto this asap

I used to keep a Word document with all my games but it was too much work trying to keep it updated and alphabetized and whatnot. Backloggery makes it much easier Smile
