February 2013 Recap

January was a crazy month for me on the games front with a bunch of games beat or bought. February was much simpler.

Games Beaten

-Resident Evil 5 (PS3)

I'd been playing RE5 online with my brother during the weekends since November and we finally finished it off. It was a lot of fun, though it paled in comparison to RE4 in every way. This was the Gold Edition (free on PS+ at the time), which is supposed to have the DLC with it but I didn't see where in the game it's accessed, so I guess we won't be playing that.

Games Bought

If not for PlayStation Plus I wouldn't have anything to put here. That makes me feel good about myself. Restraint! But still, I can play these now whenever I want, and that makes me feel good too

Now Playing

-Mario Kart 7 (3DS)

I unlocked the Mirror Mode just the other day so I'll be going for golds on those now. I've unlocked all the characters now too.

-Jeanne D'Arc (PSP)

I spent a lot of time with this game in February. Hope to finish it soon. It's kind of a low-stress SRPG, which has been a nice way to pass the time. I plan to write a review when I finish it, so look for that some time this month (I hope).

-Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)

I've been ostentatiously playing this for months but I've played in very inconsistent spurts. Don't think I've touched it in three or four weeks. But THIS month, I'll finish it this month for sure!

-Guild Wars 2 (Mac)

Been playing this with my wife. We played all the time in January but things slowed down in February. One of the things I like about Guild Wars 2 is the complete lack of subscription fees, so we can go a couple weeks without playing much and I don't feel like we're throwing money away.

And that was February! I should be able to finish MK7, Jeanne, and Uprising this month. It would be nice to get on to some new things...like BioShock Infinite! That's my one planned purchase for March. Also be on the lookout for some of my old 1UP posts to show up here. That should help me get back in the posting groove. I think March will be a productive month

Yay PSN+! I never have a shortage of games to play but it plays hell with the disk space.

As someone who has missed a lot of PSN and PS3 games, I think Playstation Plus is great! A lot of good stuff comes through there. As for space, up until the last PS store update you could "purchase" a PS+ game and choose to download it later, which was really nice. Now it starts downloading right away but I just cancel the download if I'm not going to play it right away and then I can always get it later from my download list.

Vanquish is an amazing game with a great story and gameplay u will love it.

I've wanted to play Vanquish since it came out but I've never seen a good enough deal to lure me into buying, so I was pretty excited when I saw it was free

I'm interested in reading that Jeanne D'Arc review of yours. I've owned that game for years (bought it for $9 when it was on clearance), but have only played it for a few minutes. Also, you should play through Maverick Hunter X; it's relatively short and it offers a very different experience than Powered Up.

As for Vanquish, I wish I could get my hands on a copy of that game. I've been itching to play something difficult and I've heard that game puts up a stiff challenge (especially in the extra modes). So, you might as well give that game a try, too, considering it comes highly recommended.

Hopefully it won't take too long to write the Jeanne D'Arc review. Sometimes life draws these things out lol. I thought it'd be a lot more like FFT than it is, so that was a nice surprise. As Iwata would say, please look forward to it!

I was excited to see Maverick Hunter X. I've been keeping an eye out for it but haven't seen it anywhere. I'm kind of torn because I know it's the kind of game I'd like to physically own but at least I can play it now :) As for Vanquish, I think I'll wait till after I play BioShock Infinite. Although I doubt Vanquish is that long of a game, I don't want anything that might cause me to push back playing Infinite or that could become a loose end. I have enough of those lol

PS+ has become my new favorite friend from Sony haha, I have started to look over what they have out for free and "purchase" it then I have it forever when I have PS+. I honestly wish Xbox did something like that instead of paying to play online.

Yeah, I really like PS+. If you stay on top of it, it pays for itself in no time It would be pretty awesome if Microsoft got the memo too...
