You may recall I said 2013 was a milestone year for me, being that I turned 55 years old and it is the 15th anniversary of me discovering and playing Metal Gear Solid. Which led to me being a gamer.

I guess i wasnt thinking of this at the start of the year, but now would be, and is, a good time to actually celebrate my 15th anniversary by making 2013 The Year of Metal Gear!

Meaning between now and December 31, I will play all my Metal Gear Games.  Not neccesarily all in a row, meaning, I will still play other games but my main focus will be Metal Gear.

I have inadvertently already started. A few nights ago I felt like playing Metal Gear Solid so I restarted playing my Japanese version I have of that game. I bought the MGS HD collection from Japan and although the collection did not include MGS Peace Walker it did include a code to download the digital version of MGS1 from the Japanese Playstation Store. I have a Japanese PSN account so I was able to download it. And by the way, in Japan the HD collection is called the HD Edition.

So I'm already playing MGS1 Japan

And just tonight I started playing

Metal Gear MSX

I am not going to rush through these games. I am going to take my time and really, really get into these games and enjoy them.

And speaking of this year being the Year of Metal Gear,  Do you know what else this year is?

And I didnt make this up. I googled Chinese New Year and this is what I found

(copied and pasted)

February 10, 2013 marks the Chinese New Year, kicking off the Year of the Black Water Snake in Chinese Astrology. Snake years tend to bring unexpected transformations to our lives. Yet while there may not be many outward manifestations of change, there will be plenty of activity beneath the surface. Behind-the-scenes talks, secret negotiations and clandestine activity will characterize thisChinese year ... things are not what they seem in a Snake year.

*end of copy and paste*

Now is that freaky of what?  It is the Year of The (water)Snake!

It was written in the stars

I have to play the Metal Gear Series

Snaaaaaaaake!!!!!!

I was wondering if you've played Metal Gear Rising:Revengeance. They should have left off the Revengeance part of the title, that is just silly. I played the demo the other day and thought it was very fun. Not your typical Metal Gear game at all, though. I will probably get it for 360 eventually because it's a blast to slice through stone and metal with that blade.

Wayde:  I did play the demo and I will buy the game but it will be later. Go read the review posted here on Pixlbit, it looks like the Final Boss battle will be hell. I couldnt even finish the demo...hahahah, but Im still gonna buy the game

LOL. Just out of curiousity, do you know what Chinese zodiac year you were born in? I'd laugh my ass off if it was also the year of the snake.

Since I was born in the year of the horse, I looked up videogames released in 1990 with the word horse in the title. Guess I'll be playing American Horseshoes and Arlington Horse Racing ... or not.

When I played the original Metal Gear, I got frustrated by those guards' extremely long lines of vision. Probably why they made the cones of sight for them in MGS so comically small on the normal setting. Here's hoping you'll get farther than I did in that game!

Joe:  Well, I was born in the year of the dog...so what else can I play?  hahahah

I'm playing on easy so the guards are pretty much blind!

GH! I never could get into the first Metal Gear. On NES anyway. I heard that the MSX version is a lot better. I played the game that made me a gamer last night as well. Then again, I play Double Dragon almost every day lol. Laughing

Aaron:  Playing Double D....nothing wrong with playing it everyday, as long as you dont let the game take over your real life and....Aaron?  Aaron?   he's back playing Double D!

Oh man, I didn't know Metal Ger was fated in the stars! I picked up the HD collection with the hopes of playing through the Solid series again. I'm thinking I'll pick up the Twin Snakes edition of MGS to start. Can't say as I'll get to them all this year, but here's hoping!

Are you playing the MSX versions from the MGS3: Subsistence disk? Or do you actually own an MSX2? I want one of them just for the MG games, haha. Too pricey, though!

Surfcaster: Well, you have almost a whole year to play them...so at least get started..hahaha.  Im playing the ones included in the HD collection for the PS3. I'd never even heard of an MSX until I bought MGS3 subsistience.

MGS is my favorite series for sure. I'm planning on replaying MGS4 soon with the added trophies. I bought the HD collection last year and I think the gameplay aged pretty well for 2 & 3. I've heard a lot of people being really critical of the gameplay but I guess you can't please everyone... Enjoy!

TheMart: I agree, I think the games held up real well....As long as Im pleased...the heck with the non-pleasers!  hahahah.  Enjoy MGS4, Im at 50% with the trophies so far.
