I've had ample time to play through this game multiple times and even though Im not 100% complete I feel I can give a review of the game now.

20 minutes to finish!

IMG_1550

Yes, the main mission only took me 20 minutes to complete. However this is after playing through the main mission about 10 times. My first run through the game took me 83 mintues.

Yes, the stories you heard about it being short are true. But for me to get dow to 20 minutes I played and played and played and I still havent achieved an S Ranking, whcih is the best rank. So you see I have lots more replay to do.

Replay Value

in this game is very high. Just in the Main mission you try to get the best ranking, and also try to collect all the XOF Patches. There are 9 XOF patches to find and to be honest I had to look online for most of them....they are pretty hard to find on your own.

You can collect all the cassette tape which is scattered throughout various missions.  You can unlock weapons and trials and hard mode for all the missions. Hard mode is just that...Hard!  I havent finished a mission on hard mode yet.

Is a Playstation Exclusive mission. You go through and recreate events from Metal Gear Solid. Its pretty good but it too is short and not what I was hoping for but it was fun.

Graphics Gameplay Music

IMG_1544

The graphics are excellent. The best Ive seen on my PS3. Especially the day time scenes. Just exceptional. The Gameplay is seamless and fluid. Snake controls wonderfully. The CQC took me awhile to get used to but now I can kick butt with CQC, very statisfying.

The music? Not Impressed.  But funny thing, my 22 year old daughter loves the music...so go figure.

Also....I am not impressed at all with Keifer Sutherlands Voice!  But thats just me and with time it has become less of an issue.

Final Verdict;

If you are a Hard Core MGS fan, well, then you already own it. Causual fans, buy it as a digital download for $20.00.  Others who are curious....wait for a price drop or just borrow it.

Im very pleased and happy with the game. I've own it since its release and I am only at 25% complete so I still have lots of replay value left.

For me, Ive more than got my moneys worth.

I almost bought this today but I think I'll wait until I've finished the other games first.

I still don't like the precedent this demo sets, even though I'm an MGS fan, but I'm glad people are enjoying it.

I think I'd miss Hayter's voice too, but I'm 24, so maybe that means I'll like the music. The MGS2 opening theme is one of my favorite themes.

I agree, I like the game but they couldve made the main story mission a lot longer. I did a total blackout of all things for this game before buying it and I was shocked at how fast it ended. I liked the typical MGS music in the game but the song they use for the theme song I do not like....again my daughter liked it so much she downloaded. No spoilers but its an old 70s song....I think.

I really do miss Hayters voice. thankfully snake doesnt do much talking in this game...its kind of a dark themed game.

If it's the song at 1:21 in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQX3QfcccXk then I like it, but it's not as good as the themes from 1, 2 or 3 ... never heard 4's.

I like "Diamonds and Rust" by her. I found out about it by hearing the Judas Priest cover from their 1977 album, Sin After Sin

My beef with Ground Zeroes and the future of the MG series is this: Kiefer Sutherland.

I've spent time with the game, and I'll agree that all of its mechanics and such are on point; it's what a Metal Gear game should be,for sure.

But Big Boss...the way he sounds now...I guess I'm just far too used to David Hayter's gravelly tones.  He actually sounded like a smoker.  Sutherland's voice is waaaay too melifluous to sound like a battle-hardened cigarette addicted commando.

Just my opinion.  I dig your write up!

DarthKill.....Thank You, and I agree 100% I said it before I even played the game..I will not like any voice except David Hayter. I actually though about buying the Japanese release so to not hear Kiefer Sutherlans voice.

"Spoiler-free"

So basically, you don't mention that single moment at the end that wasn't already spoiled by the trailers :P

I really enjoyed playing this. I put in 18 hours total and got all the trophies. I also didn't like Sutherland as Snake. Not so much that he didn't fit the character, but just because all I could hear was Jack Bauer.

Halo, I was on a total blackout. I didnt see any trailers or read anything other than it was short and sutherland was voicing Big Boss. Sutherlands voice is too quiet and its just not Snake enough.

I bought this on the PS4. Looks amazing on PS4, but I haven't seen the PS3 version to compare it to. Anyway, it does have a lot of content and it isn't like Konami was selling it for 60 bucks anyway. Plus, isn't your date supposed to transfer over to The Phantom Pain whenever that releases?

Andrew if it looks any better on the PS4 it must look out of this world!  hahahahah. I do believe the data can be transfered.

I'll probably wait until this gets bundled with Phantom Pain as a definitive "complete edition". Still, glad you enjoyed it,James!Smile

Ben, yeah, you'd probably benefit by waiting.  And yes indeed...I am enjoying it!

I've only ever played a little bit of MGS on PS1, but Snake's voice is supposed to be gravelly, and Kiefer Sutherland just seems so wrong for the part. I like Kiefer Sutherland, and I wouldn't call myself a huge MGS fan, but some things just don't go together.

Thanks for the review. I think I will just wait for a price drop, which is disappointing especially since I was excited when it was announced. I am glad that there is more to it than the short mission, but I don't know if those things are enough for me to go back and replay the game.

I am curious to hear Jack Bauer voice in the game.

Looks interesting enough, but I'll be wating a long time to play it due not owning a system the game's on.

Okay I'll wait for the price drop, perhaps even consider a digital download if it feels more like a digital download.
