A true Blog for PB; Wii U thoughts.

So I havn't really blogged since I finished up BaD on 1up. So I think its about time I gave PixlBit a bit of pixel time.

The trick here is to have something to talk about worth reading. Of which I have very little on deck. So here goes anyway.

There is a lot of talk about if the Wii U can survive this round of console wars. Once again Nintendo finds themselves lingering out the gate. U sales have been dismal as of late, but of course this has happened before. Nintendo is very good at re-focusing their strategy and turning lack lustre sales around. The DS wasn't looking good in the beginning, but being quite affordable compared to the PSP and a few great titles gave the little handheld that could a great kickstart. Nintendo will have to pull some strings this time for the U, unlike the first Wii, this console does not have universal appeal with an all friendly game like Wii Bowling. Nothing about the U will put this console in living rooms and nursing homes alke. In other words, Wii U will NOT print money. So House of Mario has to go back to doing what they do best; produce AAA quality first party games, and they need to come soon.

People are concerned that Nintendo hasn't announced the next big Zelda or Mario, the thing is they DO have time. Even though Sony announced their next unit and MS will do the same very soon, it will be a while before they go neck and neck on the market. I think Nintendo will announce a drastic price drop near E3 and reveal some key titles everyone's been waiting for.

Nintendo has another thing going for it. From what friends in my circle of bloggers and real life peoples have said, the Wii U is a joy to play. The tablet controller works very well and everything just has that Nintendo polish about it. This is a good thing, this means they have a solid platform to work with and as long as they focus on their streangths, the Wii U can survive along side the other heavy hitters.

Well there you go, pixers.

So before I send this sucker, who's going to PAX East? I could only do one day last year but I'm going all out this year. Can't wait!!

I have high hopes for the Wii U, and think it will do fine in the long run.  I don't think it will be a sensation/fad like the Wii was, but I think it will will do good once the 1st party games come rolling out. I can't wait for a new Mario or Zelda though, and I hope they come soon.

PAX East - hopefully next year.

Wii U...I hope your predictions come through. I don't own one and really don't plan on getting one, but more options for gaming are always good.

I love my Wii U, but the lack of games lately has left me frustrated. I really wanted to get Aliens: Colonial Marines for it, but they pushed back the release date for the Wii U version. Now that it's been released for other platforms and completely bombed, I guess that's a blessing in disguise.

I was going to get Resident Evil: Revelations for my 3DS, but now that there's a Wii U version coming out, and I'm looking for a new game for it, I'll probably get the console version instead.

They'll announce a new Mario at E3 this year, and show off some Smash Bros. I'm sure they'll do fine with their 1st party titles, but I think you're right - it probably won't sell like the Wii did.

I have heard much praise for Nintendoland and that table, though I won't likely buy one myself, I do root for Nintendo to pull through.

As for PAX, I have yet to go to any conventions, sadly, but my work often helps with them, so we'll see.

I still have no clue as to when(or even if) I'll grab a WiiU.

As for PAX, I'll definitely be there I'll be bumming around the Indie Megabooth and vendors for the first day.

Considering I hardly touch my Wii since getting my PS3, that and I'm just not realy impressed with it, they would have to drop some serious Gems. By which I mean a Zelda game of Wind Waker calibur,  a Metroid game of Super Metroid calibur, and a good Star Fox game wouldn't hurt either. Otherwise not seeing much reason to get one.

Nintendo has got to pick up the pace while they still can.  They had a golden opportunity with the year-long timeline they had before the PS4 or Xbox 720 hit store shelves.  I hope they can make something happen.

I'm nto sure myself about the Wii U. I'm kinda glad I waited on getting it. After seeing it run in action I'm dissapointed on how the GUI is so clunky and slow when running simple apps to actually booting up a game.

Going from main screen to game pad isn't as seamless as it was said to be when it comes to moving the gaming action. Indeed if they are able to deliver a unique gaming experiance like they did on the Wii it could hold it's own. I just wonder if their version of Aliens: colonial Marines could be made better with help of the gamepad, other issues notwithstanding.
