Kirby's Dream Diary, Vol 2

Dear Diary,

The craziest thing happened recently. Everyone in Dream Land stopped dreaming. Me, Waddle Dee, that weird guy that hides in mushrooms in the forest, everybody. And let me tell you, nothing makes Dream Land residents grouchier than not being able to dream. So I went to the Fountain of Dreams to see what was up, and guess who I saw there. King Dedede! Swimming around in the waters. He had broken the Star Rod, which focuses the Fountain's power so that we can dream, and sent out the pieces to his lackeys. He was basically incoherent and I was lucky to get what info out of him that I did. I set out to reclaim the pieces. It would be an Adventure! (What can I say? I'm a darned optimist.)

Dream Land was as beautiful as ever as I traversed it. I don't remember it being so colorful! It really put a spring in my step as I went. This was a much longer journey than when I got the food back from Dedede. Some of his cronies were familiar, like Whispy Woods and Kracko (good ol' spikey eyeball cloud), but there were some new faces too. He's got the sun and moon working for him! (Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright? Really guys? You deserve grander names.) And the entire time I was harrassed by a masked swordsman named Meta Knight. My duel with him was one of the hardest moments of my quest. I have a feeling he has bigger plans than Dedede but he got away. I don't doubt he'll show up again.

Dedede held the final piece of the Star Rod and was more formidable than the last time we tussled. I bested him, naturally, but he still didn't give up. He held onto my feet, babbling about something, and I dragged him all the way to the Fountain, where I stuck the Rod back where it belongs.

That, um, turned out to be a bad thing, actually. I guess a Nightmare had invaded the Fountain and Dedede removed the Rod to stop it from spreading through Dream Land. Not an ideal solution, certainly, but effective. (Ah crap, I probably owe him some kind of apology...pfft, like that'll happen! :P) The Nightmare then rose from the Fountain and I battled it in the night sky before flying to the moon to destroy its final incarnation! It was epic!

Yeah, he kind of looked like Dracula

With the evil vanquished and the Fountain of Dreams cleansed, all was right in Dream Land again. Thanks to me, of course! Instead of celebrating we all decided just to go to bed and dream.  Ya don't know what you have till it's gone, right?

Night night.

Reminds me a bit of Super Mario Bros. 2 with the parallels drawn to the dream world. Of course as great as SMB 2 it is it's just Doki Doki panic re-sprited. lol. Then again,DMC was supposedly going to be an RE entry.....Games man, crazy stuff!

Mario 2 may just be Doki Doki Panic...but that game was still made by the Mario team. Kirby is certainly fun though. Kind of like a comfort food game for me, I guess.

Talk about being a symbol for the oral stage of development. Kirby is IT.

This games looks awesome.  I've never played a Kirby game, to be honest.

You need to rectify that, man. Kirby's Adventure got a 3D Classics release on 3DS. That'd be a good place to start. There are probably a several on Virtual Console as well.

Yeah, they need to break up those monopolies, get a couple of Dream Fountains going.

Definitely an amazing NES game, and one of the last ones, too.

It was an excellent send off for the NES. Kirby often graces an aging system with a great game (NES, SNES, N64, GBA, and DS come to mind).
