PixlTalk Episode 82: The Return of Nate

Long time listeners, rejoice -- Nate Hascup is back!

We all know that death and taxes are inevitable, but we might want to add PixlTalk taking at least a few months to produce a new episode to that list. In any event, it's given us plenty of time to build up some energy for a lively discussion with returned staff member, Nate Hascup!

Halo: Spartan Assault Review

The flash clone died soon thereafter.

As a huge Halo fanboy, I’m happy to take any non-Master Chief content the good brand managers at Microsoft are willing to toss out there. After getting fairly hooked on the Halo novels, and finding that the universe created to support a space marine shooter was actually pretty interesting, I’ve often pined for actual games that use this setting in completely new ways. Halo 3: ODST was a fantastic side-step and Halo Wars reportedly made a great effort at a console RTS, but the latest attempt to get Halo characters not wearing green body armor on your Xbox, Halo: Spartan Assault, smacks of an easy cash grab.

Microsoft's Xbox One (Nine Eight Four)

I'm starting to think the next gen might be "ungood."

Microsoft seems to have a real knack for bad timing. While gamers everywhere are trying their best to reserve judgment about the upcoming Xbox One until E3 is underway, seemingly unrelated revelations come tumbling out of Washington that the NSA is performing extensive data mining on US citizens and many of their activities. As it turns out, all of this snooping requires the full cooperation of companies we rely on to maintain a modern, connected lifestyle. The first company put on the well-behaved corporate list of the observation program known as PRISM is none other than Microsoft – the same company who wants to place a set top box in your home with a required microphone and camera.

The Next Generation?

What is this I don’t even...

If you’re even tangentially involved in gaming, you likely heard at least something about Microsoft’s new system yesterday. Previously referred to as the Xbox 720, Nextbox, and Xbox Infinity by gamers, has now materialized as the Xbox One. Confused? I know I was, considering this is more like the Xbox 3 and we kind of already have an Xbox 1. However, that’s simply something we’ll have to get used to. What might be a little harder to swallow are the details about the system and the role it wants to play in your living room.

Xbox 360 Contract Plan Now Available At GameStop, Best Buy

Instead of being only available at Microsoft stores, the plan is now available at bigger outlets.

Almost two months ago, Microsoft announced its contract plan for a 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect. For $99, you could buy the console along with a two year subscription to Xbox Live Gold and pay $14.99 monthly. PixlBit Staff's Most Anticipated Games From E3

The show is over and so the PixlBit staff discusses the games that gave them the most thrills this year.

This year was a bit thinner than what we were expecting, especially with Nintendo supposedly pulling back the curtain on the Wii U.  But while we were left a bit underwhelmed and with more questions than answers there were still plenty of games on display to get us excited for something.
