Lionhead Studios Counting Down to GDC

A countdown clock has appeared on the developer's website.

Since E3 last year, not much has been heard from Peter Molyneux or Lionhead Studios. After revealing their next title, the Kinect game Fable: The Journey, details on the game or a statement of any kind has not been released. It seems that will change as a countdown clock has appeared on the developer's website today.

Almost Half Of Sega Studios Australia Laid Off

Sega has restructured Sega Australia to half its size.

Joystiq is reporting that Sega has confirmed that it's in the process of restructuring Sega Studios Australia. The publisher is laying off 37 of the studio's 80 employees, which currently finished London 2012 - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games.

Bioshock 2 Review Rewind

Just because a game can exist doesn't mean it should.

Bioshock was not a game that needed a sequel. It told a story and concluded it nicely. It didn't leave the door open for a future tale – this was made all the more apparent when the second game didn't bother to continue from the events of the first. Instead, it creates a whole new cast of characters and retcons the antagonist of the story into the events of the first game. The poor, hackneyed story is only the start of the problems with Bioshock 2.

Bioshock Review Rewind

Four years later, does Bioshock still hold up for a first time player?

Despite the apparent quality of Bioshock, it has taken me nearly five years to explore the world of Rapture and the demented mind of Andrew Ryan. After initial hype painted the experience to be something more akin to a puzzler than a shooter, I was extremely excited… until I actually played it. It wasn't at all what I expected and that was enough to force me to shelve the game until the right time. Thankfully I did, because revisiting it all these years later has allowed me to have an immensely enjoyable gaming experience.

PixlTalk Episode 44: Crew Two's Vita Blues

The first week of the second crew of the PixlTalk podcast debuts, complete with Vita whining and a hodgepodge of topics to conclude the show.

As hinted at a couple episodes ago, PixlTalk is going weekly once again. Rather than hearing the same crew every week, each crew will occupy alternating weekly time slots and tonight's episode is the first from the second crew. The Lord of the Rings: War in the North PS3 Giveaway!

Star Trek Online Goes Free To Play

Free to Play? Make it so.

Cryptic Studios has announced that Star Trek Online will become free to play on January 17, 2011. This model has proved to be quite successful as Cryptic Studios' other MMO Champions Online has gone this route as well earlier this year.
