NiGHTS into Dreams Coming to XBLA, PSN, PC

The Sega Saturn classic will be released in HD this fall.

This past Tuesday Sega posted an image (pictured below) on their Facebook page and Twitter feed that puzzled at least a few folks. However, when the dust settled, the consensus was that it was from the NiGHTS series, sparking immediate speculation. Today, Sega revealed that the mysterious picture was teasing the announcement of an HD port of the original NiGHTS into Dreams to Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC.

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Review

The Virtua Fighter series is well known and applauded for its balance and its simple complexity. A fighting game played with only three buttons, Virtua Fighter features a simple control scheme but adds incredible depth with its refined gameplay systems. This may seem odd when compared to other fighters that use more buttons, but Virtua Fighter is arguably one of the most complex fighting games on the market. With this latest iteration—subtitled Final Showdown—the series emphasizes its strong points.

Sega Vintage Collection: Alex Kidd & Co. Review

Alex Kidd should be better since his company is comprised of ninjas and motorcycles.

Sega is no stranger to porting its greatest games over to new consoles. They re-release their games more than Disney re-releases their animated movies. Luckily, Sega doesn't lock their classics up in a metaphorical vault and in fact are now bundling three of the company's older games into one collection. One of the first in this new approach is Alex Kidd & Co., which includes Alex Kidd in the Miracle World, The Revenge of Shinobi, and Super Hang-On. A slapped together group if there ever was one, but does such a variety of genres work in its favor?

Anarchy Reigns Delayed to 2013

The next title from Platinum Games is being pushed back.

Last month, it was confirmed that Anarchy Reigns, the next title from Platinum Games, was being delayed in the western markets. How long that delay would be wasn't made clear at the time. Sega has now confirmed that we won't be seeing the title in western markets until Q1 2013.

Anarchy Reigns Western Releases Delayed

Japan's release date remains unchanged.

Sega has changed the release date of their upcoming title, Anarchy Reigns. Developer Platinum Games announced on their  website that the title has been delayed in both the US and Europe. Desipte being completely finished and localized, Sega has slapped a TBC (To Be Confirmed) date on the title until a final decision is made. In Japan, however, the game will still be available on July 5.

Sega Publishing Ron Gilbert's Mystery Title?

Sega's mystery photo reveals quite a bit.

Ron Gilbert, the man behind Monkey Island, has been working on something for Double Fine for a bit now.  The game is said to be the studio’s next release, but we’ve gotten little information on it beside a few character portraits.  Today Sega dropped a hint that may lead to much more info coming sooner than later.

Sega CEO Leaving After Eight Years

Mike Hayes, who ran both US and European operations, will leave later this year.

Sega's US and European CEO Mike Hayes will leave the company later this year. Hayes joined Sega back in 2004 and has helped the publisher transition into digital markets. He was also involved in the acquisitions of Sports Interactive, known for the Football Manager series, and The Creative Assembly, the studio behind the Total War franchise.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II Preview

Yes, Tails is in this game and no, he doesn't talk.

Sonic the Hedgehog has had a sketchy period for some time now. Many would say that titles released this generation have been mediocre at best, with only Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations recently being exceptions. If you want to enjoy a good Sonic game, the majority of fans would point you back to the early 90s when Sonic stood toe to toe with Mario with titles like Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD and Sonic & Knuckles.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II Temporarily Leaked on Steam

Over the weekend, an incomplete version of the game was briefly introduced and quickly removed.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II isn't due to be released until the middle of next month, but this past weekend Steam users were accidentally granted access to the unfinished game. Though quickly taken down, some were able to capture footage of the game in action. One such user, ShadowofRuki of YouTube, has released a number of videos that reveal more details about the game.

Sonic 4: Episode 2 Has a Release Date

It only took two years…

Sega has dropped the potential release date for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2: May 16, 2012.  The throwback sequel to Sonic 3 will appear as a downloadable title on Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network.  As previously reported, Team Sonic has no plans for additional episodes in this series, so this very well could be Sonic 4’s final episode as well.  The title is also slated to appear on PC, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices.  You can check out the game’s reunion trailer here.
