Nier 2?

I enjoyed this game, but I didn't know enough people had played it to get a full on next gen sequel. In a way it makes me optimistic that RPGS will not be ignored this generation. Maybe we're seeing a comeback for PSOne PS2 JRPGs on console?

I'm a bit surprised that people haven't gone crazy for a new Dark Souls? I remember the original Dark Souls and even the recent Bloodborne get a lot of hype and excitement from the internets, but haven't heard much about Dark Souls 3? Interesting. I guess FF7 got all the attention this year.

Anyone else playing that Fallout Mobile game? I'll report back on it.

I didn't play the first game.  I just assumed it was a below average rpg, since I hadn't seen any exciting reviews or news about it.  I'll keep an eye out for Nier from now on.

I didn't know about a Fallout mobile game.  Is it a rpg?

I downloaded it on my iPad Mini but I haven't touched it yet. Apparently you build a vault whatever that is.

Nier isn't that bad. I think a lot of people hate it, but it has it's super fans like me. The soundtrack is quite amazing honestly and one of the best OST ever. I'm sure many will try to go back and play it now that the sequel is in the works.

The Fallout ipad game is not an RPG. It's shelter building simulator and F2P.

The thing is that Nier was a case of critics thrashing it without giving it much chance, but still became a cult classic. I think you should ask Ben when he returns again since he's a fan of the game.

My usual salty and opinionated approach:  Dark Souls hype is totally contingent on actual gameplay, not interactive cinemajesty and canned set-pieces, not promises of "15 times the size of the last biggest open world ever!!!"  Nope, actual substance (shots fired, in all directions!). Since there hasn't been one smidgen of gameplay shown, I'm not surprised the hype isn't there yet.

I think I'll have to give Nier a chance now. I've heard interesting things about it, but I'm frugal these days and loathe to take chances that cost money.

The thing about the Dark Souls 3 reveal is that I just finished Dark Souls II and didn't want more of it. It's too much of a good thing too soon. Like semi annual Zelda games or Marios. Need to pad them out a bit.

Nier should be cheap used online.

I played Nier and I wanted to finish it but my lack of coordination stopped me at a boss battle in which the final segment involves throwing bombs at the boss. I was unable to connect and kept blowing myself up so I quit in disgust at my ineptitude. LOL

I don't remember that part. I remember the boss battles being like puzzle blocks or something. So long ago. Need to revisit before sequel.

I got both Nier and Drakengard, but unfortunately I haven't had time to play too much of either of them.  I'll probably have to get the new Nier though.  It's going to be more action oriented, considering Platinum is developing.  As for Dark Souls 3, I think it's so soon after Bloodborne and Scholar of the First Sin that maybe people are suffering from Souls fatigue.  Or maybe it would have gotten a bigger reaction had it been announced at the Sony press conference, considering that fanbase generally favors Japanese games more.

I saw a article state DS3 is the final game. Maybe that's why it's quite in the dark souls camp. I wish I was playing Fallout Shelter but I only have android machines. The android release is apparently later down the road.

I never imagined there would be a Dark Souls 2, let alone a 3. Souls games were so niche when they first released, but they will really need to change things up a bit more because Dark Souls 2, version 1 at least wasn't that difficult and kind of a let down, and I've heard similar complaints about Bloodborne. I honestly think that the next DS game needs to borrow more from Atorias DLC and th DS2 DLC which really changed things up with the formula.

The Fallout game is just a sim game where you build rooms in a shelter under a mountain and recruit people and assign them to jobs, etc. It's like tiny tower or whatever.

I know nothing about damn Nier but this was informative. :) Fallout Mobile, Nine. I think it looks goofy but fun.

I didn't know there was a Dark Souls 3 coming up. Thought they were going in a different direction with Bloodborne. Shows you what I know.

As far as I know Bloodborne and Dark Souls aren't connected storywise and Bloodborne is it's own thing like Demon's Souls vs Dark Souls.

Yeah, I knew they weren't connected in the sense of a direct sequel, I just meant I thought the team that developed the Dark Souls series was going to start focusing on other series. I've never played any of those games, so I'm out of the loop. I would like to get Bloodborne though.

Bloodborne is supposed to be more of an action game with light RPG elements, unlike the more RPG heavy Souls games so I'd say a good place as any to start.

The fact that the new NieR is being developed by Platinum Games has gotten me interested in it.

I skipped on Fallout Mobile. It looks like a Tiny Tower game and I'm not really into them. I never tried Nier, but I'm happy that fans of the game are getting a sequel.

Nier 2...and it's being developed by Platinum?? The biggest complaint I heard about the first game was the actual gameplay, so hopefully this one will turn out a lot better.

I just saw Nier in my game store again and almost bought it - again. I should buy it. And Platinum doing the sequel. Oh yes!

I watched the DS3 trailer and it dawned on me that the art style resembles the movie Dark Crystal a bit.

I think Nier was a bit more succesful in Japan, but it was certainly unexpected the announcement of a sequel, even with the cult fanbase and all. I'm just going to wait for a hopefully PC port of the first game because I do want to try it for the story.
