Finished Witcher 3, what next...

I finally got around to finishing the Witcher 3 and man was the end depressing. Having spent all that time doing the world  favors, I did not see my ending coming at all. I'm not sure if there are multiple endings as I haven't researched those possibilities yet, but I generall do blind play throughs first time around and then make considerations on a second pass. It's probably due the closeness that the devs stuck to the books that the game ends the way it does, but I've only read a few of the books and there are loads.

In a way, I'm glad. I got an equivalent of a permadeath and bad ending despite my efforts and it really got me thinking, that more games should do this. I can't stress how many hours and months I poured into this game only to be devastated by the end results. It's a fantastic game experience, don't get me wrong, but I just didn't see the end coming. I did not recieve a fairy tale happy ending, and in a way it makes sense because the Witcher books are actually pretty grim and sad like Game of Thrones is, so it is keeping true to that spirit.

I'll probably revisit the game again when all the DLC are out and the game is on sale in the future, just like I did with the previous game. It benefited to wait for it to be patched up. Story-wise it is fantastic though and the world is gorgeous and atmospheric. There is plenty to do and there are still lots of contracts and side quests to find.

So far, I've got two large open world games finished, and I dont like open world games at all. The other being Arkham Knight.

Now on to Dragon Age Inquisition, or MadMax perhaps...

I'm thinking of buying a copy of DA:I for my PS4 and starting a new game.  I really liked that game, but playing on my computer is a bitch.  I do recommend it.

Mad MAx looks cool, but it's more my brother's style.  If he buys it I'll let u know what he thinks.

I just added all Sapkowski's Witcher books to my list to read. Two of them are still to be translated into English coming in the next two years.

There are mutiple endings.  My wife & I got the good ending and we didn't watch each other play.  We just happened to make many of the same decisions in the game.

The games take place after the books, so the book endings have very little to do with the game endings.

I started playing DA:I (PS4).  I finished it on the 360 back in Jan or Feb.  I decided to upgrade to the PS4 version, b/c I heard EA is not supporting the PS3 and 360 versions anymore.

I still need to restart my playthrough. I had started it on a ps4 we don't have anymore. I just haven't had much gaming time lately. I'm glad there is gonna be expansions to the game. Dragon Age I might start over on, I haven't played it in forever. The new DLC  they announced looks interesting.

I might just wait for all the Witcher 3 expansions and play the game again later in the future. This game was very long, and I can't jump right in again with so many other things on my plate right now. Dragon Age Inquisition I might have to wait until winter when there is a gaming drought, if I'm not still playing Battlefront or Star Wars Infinity.

My wife finished The Witcher 3 a month or two ago and got a mostly good ending. She's hoping to replay it too at some point but it is a very long game. I just finished Wolfenstein: The New Order on PS4 and really enjoyed that. Haven't decided what to tackle next but I'm leaning towards The Last of Us Remastered.

MGSV. It's fucking phenomenal. I still need to actually finish the Witcher though. Got so close.

Where did you stop? I think the last part of the game does a better job of leveling you for content, unlike the opening and middle where you have to grind quests to level up to prepare for story. I apporached it as an MMO and just slowly paced through it all like a long novel, but its done. Cool

Right near the end. Um... after you go and tell a certain bad guy that a certain other bad guy did some betraying of a king.
