A new Neptunia release is upon us, and for better or worse, I'm a bit of a fan now. The better, it's fun. The worse, it oversexualizes young characters. As much as this style of game doesn't appeal to me, I really didn't hate the games I played, which were the last few releases. I just take it as  Japan having a different culture than ours, and I really don't like content edited. What I love is the over the top craziness of it all. It's kind of like the mirror image to an over the top macho shooter with splosions everywhere, except replaced with anime robot girls and cartoony worlds. It's just too much at times, but gosh darnit I find the games just dumb fun. I said I would keep an eye out for future neptunia releases, and enjoyed the odd spinoffs on PSVITA. Just as with the Atelier games, which I also surprisingly enjoyed, I now keep an eye out for new releases of what were once fringe games in my gaming landscape.

Gotta love the title
MEGADIMENSION NEPTUNIA VII

As much as I take issue with the unnecessary bouncy boob physics, which you can see in the trailer below, I also remembered that Jill from Resident Evil 1 Remake had bouncy boob physics added as well, but I still liked the game. So, Yeah. Japan. Anime. Whatever?

I honestly barely noticed the jiggly boobs. Doesn't seem any worse than Lolipop Chainsaw to me.

No. Voyeurism is a feature of the game. It is very apparent. The characters often take group showers with strategic soapy bubble placement for no reason at all. The games are made specifically in mind for a particular type of anime fan, which I am not. Combat is fun though.

Ok, but see I saw none of that in the trailer. lol I get where you're coming from now.

boob physics.  No wonder Sarkeesian exists. Tongue Out

Sarkeesian would dismiss the entire game, developer and shame the people who like these games-like me, despite my objections- because she can't get over the boob physics. She needs to lighten up honestly, or realize that there is a fringe sub-genre that particularly targets male gamers. It is what it is.

I don't mind, but maybe it would be more equal if shlong physics was as developed.

Actually, I saw a story popup on Kotaku about nudity mods for both m/f and for some reason male nudity is more challenging or something, but it looks like some people are trying to balance things lol.

I'm glad that's not my job!

Or the fact that there are women that like these kinds of games and you know, sexy stuff as equal as men. Of course, it'll crumble her weak narrative of "ze evil mysoginist male gamerz!" and many more would come to realize she's a fraud and conned people with her kickstarter....

Sorry, she REALLY grinds my gears.

I don't mind that she voices her opinion. It just seems like cherry picking most of the time.

These have been on PSN flash sales a couple times but I'm just waiting for a really good deal and I'm gonna try one of them out. I've always enjoyed some Japanese zaniness.

If you do try them out, I would work my way backwards chronologically, or try the HD remakes of the PS3 games because they are just better tweaked over all. The newer ones are better.

I bought one of them for Vita when it was on sale but neglected to check if it played on PS TV. Guess what? It doesn't.

You don't own a VITA?

Just a PS TV so I can play some Vita games but not all. I may pick up the handheld version now that it's been discontinued. Toys R US and EB Games don't even carry Vitas anymore.

I hadn't played any of the Neptunia or Atelier games, and I own a couple of them.

I have the remake of the very first game on my Steam wishlist. Hoping it gets on a very good sale with all its DLC.

They are pretty average JRPGs honestly. I got into them because I felt like playing a grindy min/max JRPG and it served that purpose. But if you do decide to play one, I'd start with the remakes since they seem more fine tuned.

Well, I said I put the remake on my wishlist since it's the only one on Steam, together with the next two remakes of the main series. From what i've read, they remade the games because apparently the original game on the PS3 was pretty broken and rushed due to low budget.
