Dynasty Tactics is a Turned base strategy game made by Koei, and was released on the PS2 in 2002 and is the prequel to Dynasty Tactics 2, and the game is set in the same time period of Koei,s other titles like Dynasty Warriors, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

The series is set in China during the three kingdoms period. Players take command of one of the three kingdoms and its leaders in a quest to unite all of China under a single ruler. Individual scenarios, with objectives such as conquering certain citys 0r capitals, are strung together to form a longer campaign [ one for each kingdom ]. In most cases, any generals [ and there associated experience levels] aquired during a previous scenerio/mission can be carried over to the next,

Each turn, players plan the moves for multiple units or armies between locations on the world map. You may also use generals for covert spying or stealing other leaders generals, the bulk of the gameplay revolves around the tactical battles between armies. Each general in the army heads up a number of troops, initially equel in number to a 1000 times his experience level.  Troop types can be adjusted during the strategic planning phase, but each unit consist of a single troop type, such as infantry, calvary or archers. Units also possess a moral value, which can positive or negative there performance, morale is a key aspect in this game cause low morale can cause poor fighting troop desertion or other leaders stealing your generals so its wise to keep morale high, the units as seen above are moved like chess peices and battle on number values, but of course morale strenth play a large roll on the outcome. Theres also tactics which is an art each leader has ,like charge, flank etc and can change the outcome especially when you form chains, which means you issue a tactic for one general then another to another general then attack with your current general and the others will set off theres in conjunction and in fact cause total devistation.

Dynasty Tactics 2 which if you like this one you will want to get cause it really expands upon the original Dynasty Tactics, with relatively little of the original game being replaced with entirely new mechanics. Released just a year apart, the graphics are similar between the two titles, although Dynasty Tactics 2 does add dolby surround audio, some additional tactics a city exploration system and evaluation system, overall a great game for strategy fans.

I was looking into this recently and almost picked it up.

I looked up other things Koei did too and noticed a bunch of strategy games I've never played. Cool company.
