So I decided that I missed playing Master System games. However, I didn't want to purchase a Master System console because frankly, there just isn't the space for more console. So what did I do? Sega Power Base Converter  to the rescue (pictured here)!! For those of you unaware of what it is, the Power Base Converter was an early Genesis hardware add-on that allows you to play most Master System games on the Genny. Here's the Master System games I purchased:

Shinobi

Enduro Racer

Action Fighter

One of my favorite series on the SMS is Fantasy Zone. I wasted no time getting thos games as well.

I love those promo posters that came with NES and Master System games. These two came with Fantasy Zone 1 & 2...

So that'll about do it for me today folks!  Wanted to keep this one short and sweet. Have a nice rest of the week everyone!

I really liked Fantasy Zone: The Maze.

Yeah, FZ: The Maze is pretty interesting because it's obviously influenced by Pac-Man, but it's not a totall rip-off either.  Sega did a good job with that idea.

Over the years of Maester System game purchases, I've found it much more common to get promo posters with my purchase more so than I would with an NES game complete in the box. But I think the clam shell design made it easier to just keep everything in there if you could help it vs. the more disposible feel of the NES cardboard boxes.

I love those Sega cartridge boxes.  So Cool.  I had an SMS when I was a kid, with Astro Warrior, Outrun, Hangon, Space Harrier, and maybe another game or two.  Never had Phantasy Star. I liked that system a lot.  I gamed a lot when I was a kid, so all my systems got love.

Oh the nostalgia!  I never had a Master System (or Genesis).  My parents raised me right :p. But you're making me remember those promo posters from the NES/SNES games I used to have.  I stupidly traded them in long ago, along with the cardboard boxes, manuals, and inserts. I rebought most of the games on Wii Virtual Console, but I can never replace the other stuff :(

I have never played a Master System game. But egads, no pictures on the carts? And look at that box art! Crazy times.

Those SMS box covers are absolutely dreadful. So plain and boring. What were they thinking?

My friend Mark has that coverter for Genesis. I used to want a SMS, and I still do at least for Phantasy Star I, but like you I have too many consoles as it is. I got most of the SMS stuff on other collections anyway.

I'm reorganizing my room right now and I thought I'd frame a few posters I have from old games like the ones you showed. I was thinking RPG maps would be best. I have a few of those like Ocarina of Time and Morrowind.

I remember that converter! I used that when I played my first Master System game. I always thought Nintendo was the only system my friend pull out his MS carts.
