Where did all these RPGs come from?

2016 has been a sucky year for politics and celebrity deaths. But it's been a damn fine year for RPGs.

So far over the past few months I've had RPG goodness from sources as diverse as Square Enix, Tecmo Koei, Namco, Sega, Falcom/Xseed, Nintendo, Atlus, Bethesda, Sony, and more. I've been enjoying titles like Final Fantasy Type-0, Tales of Zestiria, Nights of Azure, Atelier Sophie, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. Three of my four favorite games of all time (FFVII, Twilight Princess, and Valkyria Chronicles) have gotten re-releases on contemporary hardware. And there's still an asston of games to look forward to later in the year and into 2017, starting with Star Ocean 5, I am Setsuna, and Cosmic Star Heroine.

I haven't seen this much RPG goodness since the glory days of the PS1 era. And I am lovin' it.

Peace out, y'all. Off for some more TMS #FE...

I missed out on the ps1 era of RPG, I  got into them late when I could emulate on a Laptop, I remember looking a these multiple disks for one gaming thinking "I can't get jiggy with this!"

Anyway, I'm think of gett Zestira but don't know how good it is. It's 60% off now.

It's pretty good. The battle system is a bit over-complicated, and I never really did understand the synthesis system, but I had fun with the story and all the little things the Tales games are known for. And not understanding either of those two mechanics didn't hamper my ability to complete the game at all. The graphics are pretty - I am fond of the watercolor effect for the backgrounds, and the music was good enough that I actually noticed it,which is more than I do with most games.

I'm rather enjoying SMT #FE. I can do without the pervy stuff but I like the battle system and overall I'm pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing today. I just bought Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Bravely Second, and Stella Duel at the same time. Those last two are mainly to add to the collection before I can't find them anymore, but there are some great RPGs this year, and coming soon. I am interested in I am Setsuna, and there is an RPG based on the comic book Battle Chasers that is looking pretty good, too.

I think Star Ocean just came out, or will soon. . . Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness out on Tuesday. Oh my.
