The Vita Wishlist

Now that I have finished up Saints Row IV, I was expecting to jump into DOOM, but that didn't really happen.  I started up the first level and made it about halfway through, but I guess I am not feeling a big budget PS4 game.  So, I jumped back into Chrono Trigger on the Vita, which I had started over my vacation.  Chrono Trigger is just such a fantastic game, and alonf with FF IV got me into RPGs when I was younger.  We had some RPGs on the NES, but they didn't pull me in like FF IV and subsequently Chrono Trigger...

As far as a Vita wishlist, this topic really comes from the fact that I Am Setsuna released this week on PS4.  It also stems from the fact that the next Square Roots Podcast series is Secret of Mana.  I Am Setsuna was released for the Vita in Japan, but there are no plans to release it over here in North America.  To me, a big fan of the Vita, this sucks.  I have heard that the game isn't best on Vita, but that doesn't matter to me.  Chrono Trigger on Vita has some awful load times, but I don't really care.  Turn-based RPGs are best on handhelds in my opinion.  As far as Secret of Mana, I would love to have a portable version of that game.  I am wishing that Square would have ported it to the PSOne back when they ported FF IV-VI and Chrono Trigger.  If they did that, I would most likely have a way to play Secret of Mana on Vita, which would probably be the best place to play it...  ever.

So, at this moment, I Am Setsuna and Secret of Mana are at the top of my wishlist of games that I want on Vita.  The list does not end there though, because I love my Vita I want everything on Vita.  I know that there is no guarantee that any of these next games would be able to run on Vita, but I would love to see them if they could.  I think that Shadow Complex would be a perfect fit for Vita.  Housemarque made a game called Outland a while back and probably should be on Vita, since all their other games are on Vita.

Now that I am actually trying to think about it, I am having issues thinking of games that I would want on Vita...  The handheld Castlevanias would be awesome, but that is probably the biggest pipedream in the world.  Until next time...

I just wrote a blog about the Vita a week and a half ago!

Also, it may not be Secret of Mana, but I did just review Adventures of Mana on the Vita recently:

And I'm with you.  While I did play RPGs on the NES like Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior, it wasn't until FF4 on the SNES that I was really drawn into the genre.  After that, I was all about Square in the 16-bit days.

Shantae.  How could I have forgotten about her?  Wayforward ported two of the games to PS4, but not the Vita.  If it runs on the 3DS why not vita.

i am going to get adventures of mana at some point.  Whenever I have free space on my memory card

I want I Am Setsuna too! And Darkest Dungeon, which I am patiently waiting for.

Same here with Darkest Dungeon.  Hopefully it releases the same day on Vita as PS4.  I don't think I could beat another Volume/Axiom Verge/Bastion situation.

So want to play some more Vita. Not finding the time for it right now though.

I find myself swapping between PS4 and Vita.  I finished up Axiom Verge I think and then jumped into Saints Row IV and now I am playing Chrono Trigger on Vita, and hope to play DOOM or Secret of Mana on consoles next.

I just beat Axiom Verge, and I really liked it, even though I never got around to playing any of the Metroid games (big Castlevania fan though).  Wondering if it's worth the trouble filling out the map (currently at 97%) and all the secret worlds/powerups.

I am on the final chapter and frankly, the load times don't really bother me all that much. I am still shocked that I am only 16 hours in and am almost done with the game. I don't remember it being that short back when I played it last on DS.

Boy, I want to play that soon.

Hopefully, enough people will buy Adventures of Mana that Square will reconsider publishing I am Setsuna for Vita.  You could always remote play it lol.

I don't really have a wish list anymore, because Sony's ignored the Vita for so f'ing long I don't really have any expectations.  I'm actually surprised it's still being supported at all (thank you Japan!).  Persona 5 should have been Vita/PS4 instead of PS3/PS4.

The one thing I wanted for the Vita is a solid non port, AAA title on the handheld that didn't try and shoehorn everything the Vita could do into the game. I had high hopes for Uncharted because it was a Vita only title but having to swipe to fight bosses was dumb. The handheld quickly became an after thought after that and that's a shame considering how great a machine it is.

I can't disagree with you, a solid AAA game would be great.  At the same time, there are still so many games coming that I want.  Even though they a majority of them are indies.  Shiren the Wanderer just came out this week and I am definitely excited to get that, and I suppose that is technincally a AA game.
