Community Question? What game gave up on YOU?

Hello Pixlbit.

Just thought I'd approach the blog with a question this time because I'm genuinely interested to hear some answers. We've heard about games that gamers wanted to love but bounced off from, but what games just out right rejected you either too buggy or broken or lost MEM card or whatever...

RED DEAD REDEMPTION

I gave up on this game when I played it in 2011. It was more of a choice to put it down because I wasn't much of a fan of open worlds and thought the traveling to be quite boring. However, I restarted the game again recently and I keep running into game crashing bugs mid mission, which makes it very annoying to restart. It wasn't just one or two but several, and restarting a mission usually entails riding a horse long ways etc. I played a lot of it, but no more. It's good but one too many crashes for my patience. I liked some of the characters, missions, world etc.

AC: LIBERATION (PSVITA)

I genuinly enjoyed the idea of the game story and location on VITA, but there is only one main save file and an AUTO SAVE function throughout the game, but there is a game breaking bug that leaves you stuck in the animus or whatever empty dark space you hang out in before loading a map. I might look for this game on Xbox360 or PS3 because I liked the concept of the game enough. A lady that switches between AC uniform for combat and restrictive dresses that only allow you to flirt with civilians for infiltrating/spy purposes.

I liked Red Dead.  It's actually one of the few games I've beaten recently.  I loved riding on the horse.

I gave up on Dragon Age: Origins.  And I truly love that game, I just did the missions wrong and got stuck on a boss I couldn't beat.  But that game gave me so much enjoyment, I would like to someday get back to it.  Just pissed right now.

I think Origins was hard to backtrack if you didnt have enough saves. Ouch.

I think there are way too many games that gave up on me or just hate me entirely. Mostly I found myself getting screwed by licensed crap. But I've run into a few bugs on lightgun wii games like resident evil the darkside chronicles which froze  at random points and wouldn't advance or dead space extraction had a similar problem

oh yeah. I remember playing a terrible jurassic park game on gameboy, and it was mostly a top down fetch quest for raptor eggs. It was super ridiculously hard and tedious. Fuck you licensed games. However, there was a cool harry potter game on wii where you had to mix potions with the wiimote and you got to explore the castle and stuff.  Fuck cheap difficulty though.

Most recently it was Earthlock: Festival of Magic. I was doing just fine against random enemies, and the early bosses, but I got to this one boss that just wiped the floor with me. Normally, I'd just go grind somewhere in the world and come back, but I've been really impatient with games lately because I have so many to play. Plus, that shouldn't happen. I had already gotten experience with every random beastie on the way to that boss, I shouldn't have to wander aimlessly for XP points. The game should have put me in a proper possition to beat the boss during the normal course of the story. The whole thing took me out of the story, and for that, it goes into my large backlog to wait for my return.

yeah. ive gone on rants about grinding to beat certain bosses--bad balancing design there. if the combat is fun i dont mind it as much, but that needs to stop.

Most recently, I had to refund Grown Up. I purchased the game on Steam and couldn't do anything with it due to control issues. Climbing controls would randomly pause the game, I couldn't mess with the options because I had to hold the accept button to open other menus and this happened no matter what control method I was using.

It's a shame, because I really enjoyed Grown Home and I was really looking forward to it.
