What are your thoughts on Elder Scrolls Online?

There is a free trial this week on console and PC.

I'm playing on PS4 and I think the approach is interesting. Basically, it plays like every other Elder Scrolls game, complete with 1st person combat view and all (although you can switch to 3rd person view too). It has MMO style fetch quests and you can play with other people.

I don't particularly enjoy the combat that much, although I like that it has more modern dark souls style combat using trigger buttons to swing a sword for example, instead of waiting for hotkey cooldowns like world of warcraft. It's basically an action game you can play with friends.I feel like I have to do too much work to cut down just one enemy, but it probably gets easier as you level up and unlock more abilities.

It's on sale for real cheap, but I don't know if I want to play more past the tutorial. I'm not being drawn in at all, and I'm just going from fetch quest to fetch quest and find it boring. Maybe it gets better later on? I think I'd rather just play Skyrim or Witcher 3 if I want an endless open world RPG.

Have you played the game or are you playing the demo this week?

meh, i didn't like it. It looks nice, and the combat is more interesting than skyrim, but I hate seeing other places running to quests around me. I'd rather it was a single player game you could co-op or something.  Just my two cents.

So far I've just seen other ppl just running about. Not necessarily grouping together. Not sure if there are even any dungeons or raid equivalents like in Guild Wars 2 or FF14. I'd rather just play regular Elder Scrolls honestly.

I've been wanting to play FFXIV but something wrong with my account.  Haven't had time to fix it.

I've been playing it. If you decide to play again, let me know what server you join so we can maybe co-op in the future. Right now I'm leveling Marauder (Axe class) in Limsa. Actually, I've visited other cities so I can get other classes too.

I rented it from red box once and could see how it could get addicting, but as you said combat wasn't interesting and I didn't really like the graphics.

I'm actually playing a Dishonored 2 demo ( never played either game) and it honestly hasn't appealed to me. Might be cause I suck at it though. Seems I have to climb a windmill to get past some wall of light electric trap, but ...where the f can i climb the windmill? Also, I suck at most stealth games except MGS ( which is the only stealth franchise that has also allowed me to get away with guns blazing when I felt like it), so ...

I loved dishonored 1 for atmosphere and story. I'll eventually get around to Dishonored 2, but it seems to be a really long game and I don't have time for another game like that right now. I would rely on teleportation ability and sneak kills in 1st game.

I'm not sure why ESO has such high reviews? I haven't been pulled into the game at all and it seems like a regular ES game to me? We'll see.

I  mean, it looks and plays like an ES game, just you can play with friends now. Although, I don't think you can mod it like Skyrim.

Every time I see a trailer, I think, "wow!" and want to play it. I heard they put the entirety of Morrowind into the game recently. That's super cool. The free trial this weekend sounds interesting. I'm kind of deep into Persona 5 right now though.

I've played it a few times but I always get to a point early on where I just get bored of it. It doesn't feel like either enough of an elder scrolls game or an mmo to keep me really engaged unfortunately.

Yup. I scheduled time to play it this weekend and thinking about it made me read a book instead.
