My Zelda Progress

Image result for breath of the wild towers

So far I’ve managed to climb most of the towers on the continent, except for one. It’s one of the tallest towers in the world and requires an exhausting vertical mountain climb and cliff jump to even make an attempt at reaching it. Feels good to have most of the world map filled in at least.

I’ve also completed 3 out of 4 Divine Beast, with only one left to go. At least, I’m assuming there’s just one more and have no idea what happens after the fourth. So far I’m liking the ‘Shadow of Colossus’ feel to them and the fact that I’ve been watching these things moving around in the distance as I’ve been traveling through the world.

I put off a lot of the shrines for now, but I’ll start picking them off as I push the story here and there. They feel inconsequential, more like end game content to me anyhow and I’m glad I didn’t have to be overpowered and required to do a lot of them to defeat at least 3 bosses so far.  I also don’t like the way the people in the world seem to be oblivious to the threat or danger that they’re in. Actually, they don’t act like they’re in any danger whatsoever. They seem pretty happy, chill and carefree most of the time. There’s such a contrast between the vast ‘end-of-the-world’ haunted looking ruin fields of hyrule and the settlements inhabited by all the happy people. It’s as if I’m not even needed. Very strange.

I still need to a couple of armor sets to complete my collection. I don’t need to make elixirs for elemental protection any more which is kind of a bummer, since enjoy cooking.

Which Beast do you have left?

Vah Naboris. The desert one. I'm questing in Gerudo region right now.

I used the Gale power to finish off whatever towers I had left.

i decided to put the game down for a little while.  I put 40 hours into the game, got all the towers, 50+ shrines, but only finished two of the beasts.  I am so conflicted about the game because I don't think it's for me, yet I cannot stop playing it....  which is why I had to force myself to play something else.

"I don't think it's for me."

I can understand this.  The thing is, when there is a giant world, I impulsively have to see all of it. It's a bad thing about me, which is why I avoid games with giant maps and don't want everything to start doing this. Sure I could have just done story quests in a linear approach, but again, impulse. I really just want to see the edges of the map for some reasaon. Witcher 3 I was okay with doing because a lot of the side quests and hunts were good so I didn't feel like my time was wasted. FF15 also had a beautiful world as did Xenoblade games. I'm curious to see how big Metro Exodus will be, but I don't want everything to be big. Evil Within 2 had a nice big town to explore and had enought tension and suspense to make it survival horror, although it was less so because of the openness of it compared to EW1.

Did you find the Master Sword yet? What about all the story memories? I'm just picking away at it slowly now while I play indie games on the side like Blossom Tales and Thimbleweed. I had to stop myself from playing Zelda too. I was going from shrine to shrine very addictivly.

It is a little unfair to say that BotW is not for me.  I usually avoid openworld games, and the ones I do play I typically fall off by the 40 hour mark.

i finished up the shrines in the Korok forest.  Have not pulled the master sword yet.

I normally would do what you are doing and supplement my time with indies, but there are so many AAA games that I really want to play from 2017.   Mario being at the top of the pile.

I pick indie games because they're short and can finish a few while I play longer games like BotW on the side. I'm thinking of using Redbox Rentals to limit my playtime to 2 days and see how far I can get through a backlog of newer games just so I can try out games from 2017 and not pay full price or not feel guilted for not finishing them. I think newer games have short campaigns which people complain about full price.

Last I stopped I was at the water Divine Beast. It had glitched on me and I had to reset and well....havent played it since but I do plan to go back at some point. Kinda depends on what I throw my most time into next. I just beat my first game of the year and I have no clue what to do next. Im thinking its finally time to finish off Persona 5, as much as I love the game and dont want it to end, it has to.

Persona5 was on my christmas list but I got a Switch. Maybe I'll get around to it after Zelda this year.

I want to climb that tower.

Climbing towers can be a kick in the dick sometimes. You have to have enough stamina to make longer climbs without stopping and several of them have annoying enemies hovering around that shoot you off from the sides or instakill with lazers. Not to mention actually getting to these things can be annoying as hell. Like the one covered in water with enemies that shoot lighting magic or one covered in black oil the you have to get around without touching or it will drain your health.

Maybe if I have some left over in my "want" budget, but I doubt it. I eat out A LOT.

I think I'll be getting the Wii U version here soon. I'm going to try finishing up Twilight Princess then move onto Skyward Sword before I do, though.
