Im not liking the direction software companys are going, i mean wheres the love in games, im so tired of getting games with online manuals, cause first off if you need to look up a control button or info on something in the game you have to save exit to the main screen then look at the manual and hope you can remember it by the time you get your game loaded.

I mean do you really want to open up your new game and see this, really why do we need to save a little paper for a instruction booklet, im all for inviromental concerns but this is rediculous, we only probably got the gen left before games go digital so at least let us buy a complete game till then, i miss the days of getting that new game and before im able to play reading the manual. But i guess just like everything else with classic games there becoming history.

Whenever I first played All-Stars Battle Royale for PS3, I wondered where the book was. It was whenever I inserted the game and went to play that I saw a new icon for the manual directly under the game. It really pissed me off that I had to read the manual via PS3 in order to understand how to play the game.

at the very least, they could have an insert that has the layout of the controls.

I don't mind digital manuals for Vita games as long as all of the essential info is there (and not just copyright, warranty stuff). For console games, it can be a problem. Halo 4 didn't come with one and I'm sure there are some commands I haven't figured out (had to look online to know how to assassinate, for example). If it's on the disc, like via the menus, that's fine. If in the case of Uncharted 3, where you have to download it separately, that's annoying.

I am with you on this. I like having a book with all the data I need right there at my finger tips. I know they are trying to save trees[and money!] by going digital, but still. They will charge the same for games without the booklet, that goes without saying. I'm just an old fuddy duddy I guess!

I've never actually looked at a digital manual lol. I'm too lazy for that. I'd much rather have something tangible. I don't think manuals are gonna last long either. Once everything goes all digital, I'm done with it. Thankfully I'll still have my classic games to play.

I love old school manuals, the art work and mini story intro are always good to browse. I recently found my old Links awakening box complete with booklet, Its got loads of little illustrations of little things throughout in faded looking print colour.

I'll miss stuff like this in the future!

Yea its sad but maybe companys like Atlus,Ubisoft Square Enix will keep them especially Atlus, since we all know how much they like making colirful artwork manuals.

I miss artwork and mini stories in them too. I used to just read the SFII: Turbo and other SNES booklets. Sad to see things going this way, but on the bright side, it does save trees.

All games going digital will definitely take some of the interest away from buying games for me. That object still appeals to my inner caveman. I'm not ready future!!!

I just reviewed the Star Trek game and it didn't have a manual either.  It actually makes it more difficult for me to review a game without a manual to refer to.

Thankfully there are still companies who have put out manuals. I mean Nintendo still has colorful manuals for their games and even in multiple languages. I'm not fond of the digital manuals these days it's just not the same.

I miss NES and SNES when epic games came with big manuals with mini strategy guides and foldout maps and shit.  Those were the days.  I would stay up late reading them the night I got a new game.  This generation, they have gotten thinner and thinner.  You can still get pre-order and bonus art books and shit, but it isn't the same.

Yes i agree i use to love getting that new game and being excited to see what goodies would be in there fat manual with a prologue and a map etc, now you get a half ass case with nothing but a thin paper saying download your manual at whatever.com lol.

I shed a tear for when game manuals were almost always 30+ pages in full-color. Now you'll be lucky to get a pamplet with the controls and warnings on how bad gaming is for your heath.

I love game manuals.  Opening a new game without one is disappointing.

well I must really be weird. It doesnt bother me that there going online wise. I actually liked that on the Wii U they were on the console. It was easy for me to look at it and go back to the game without probs using the gamepad. Not to mention every game normally starts you out with a tutorial to teach you everything.

Its the collecting aspect not the convenience. I collect games and physical copies are a must its not so much that i use it as much as having it lol.
