And yes i know theres no sure proof way of doing this but after reading a reveiw by Julian Titus and then reading this clown go off on his reveiw made me so angry and by the way Julian handled it very profesional and better then i would have, you know i feel like all of you are family i converse with most of you on a daily basis and Nick Julian and all the staff has a great site here and to see some one come on here and attack Julian like this idiot who had to be anonymous and couldnt even reveal who he was is a coward and knows nothing about game reveiws apparently this clown didnt like Julians reveiw of Thoughs among us which he gave an honest 4 out of 5 and actually did a great reveiw and so being tastful and criticising his reveiw he lashed iut calling him incompetent and just being a jack ass and this made me mad and i know i should be the better man like Julian handled it but this clown was out of line and should be banned from the internet period, but i guess with any site were subject to attacks by trolls who have no life and just want to create drama but this pissed me off and i just had to vent to you all. Cause i dont like people jumping in any of yall let along the staff who makes this site awesome.Wink

That's when Julian's calmness is so great, though. Trolls get NOTHING to feed on. Julian is troll kryptonite! Tongue Out

Wish I had an answer to help get rid of the nuisance but so long as ppl can post "anonymous replies" I guess we're going to have to put up with the occasional speed bump.

You know I really dislike Halo and FF games and I have expressed that before. I never try to go on others posts anbout those games and down them, other than a friendly jeer. I will never understand trolls.

They have no life but lke BrokenH said and how Julian handled it dont give them anything to feed on and they will leave.

Honestly, the way you fine PixlBit members came to my defense was more than I could have asked for. I had a feeling people would be mad because I didn't give it a perfect score, because I remember Anthony Gallegos getting death threats for giving Uncharted 2 a 4.5 out of 5.

Still, it was weird to see people attacking me personally for a review of a game that I genuinely loved. It's not like my Hotline Miami review, which is a game that I loathe that most people adore. It probably would have affected me more, but if you go back and read anything I've written about JRPGs you'll see that I've been well tested with trolling comments. Thanks for this, leeradical.

Although for the record, I don't mind people commenting on my stuff, even if it's super negative. As long as I can tell that I've gotten my point across I can say I've done my part.

That's what I did not understand. You gave Last Of Us a glowing recommendation. The score you gave it was high too. I've had a few friends say LOU is frustrating in places and that towards the end it's a glorified shooting gallery in one particular section. As such no, the game is probably not "perfect".

I believe you chose integrity and being truthful over glowing bias praise. As such I had no problem with the review. A consumer could read it and make a good decision on whether or not the game is for him or her. That's what reviews should do.

Well Julian i understand criticism and thats to be expected, but to sit there and say things like you have no buisness reviewing games and you dont know how to play games etc, was just out of line thus clown couldnt even have the courage to at least show who he was and to just come on here and downgrade you for a reveiw that was very good and thats coming from other game reveiwers as well is just ludacris and he should take is baby wining ass to another site if he dont like it. But i think you do awesome reveiws and i respect you for your awesome work and feel that we dont have to listen to that kind of ridicule, you dont like it go elsewhere and leave your two cents on another site.Laughing

You think that was bad you should have seen the response to Tom Mc Shea's review of The Last of Us on Gamespot. The trolls came crawling out of the woodwork like roaches lol. There were over 17,000 comments! He gave it a 8. I guess that wasn't good enough for the idiots out there. Reviews are based off of opinons. I don't really pay attention to the score as much as the text of the review.

Trolls man, what can you do? You just have to remember that when face to face these guys wouldn't say shit and probably don't believe in what they are typing. It's wrong but as long anonymity exists, trolls will breed where they can.

I've never had a problem with trolls on Pixlbit so far.  VERY rarely at 1up and GamerDad.com, either.  I don't know why trolls don't target me, but I'm not complaining.

I had a couple run in with trolls for some of my more popular blogs on 1up, and I admit I fed them, to varied results.  People are going to disagree about things, that's a given, but some people are just plain trolls like the guy who commented on Julian's review.

I don't think there's much you can do about them other than ignore them.  They seem to hate that the most.

Actually on that very post i think you said something like is this guy for real lol!!! I just like what he said to Julian i mean constructive criticism is fine but this guy crossed the line.

That is one thing I really liked about 1 up, and now Pixlbit.  There really aren't a whole lot of trolls.  It is nice to see mostly mature discussions, which is pretty rare on the internets.

I think trolls on sites like these forget a few key points, one of which being that Pixlbit has a much smaller staff base than say IGN. I’m sure that (and correct me if I’m wrong here by all means) reviews here on Pixlbit just don’t have the time to do several play throughs and explore all the possibilities a game has to offer. A standard rule of playing the game on it’s standard setting ensures a fair and balanced approach to all reviews, and quite frankly you’d have to be a bit of a tool to just read one review when you plan on buying a game anyhow, the internet is a free resource so I try to read as many reviews on a game of interest as I can.

leeradical42

07/02/2013 at 06:53 AM

Fair or not Julian did a honest reveiw and this guy has the right to disagree but he doesnt have the right to question his qualifications for reveiws, and this guy wouldnt know how yo reveiw a game if it bit him on the ass lol!!!

Julian Titus Senior Editor

07/02/2013 at 12:36 PM

I doubt even a place as big as IGN has time for its reviewers to play through a game on multiple difficulty settings. They tend to have to play games like this in two or three days, and that doesn't leave much time for experimentation.

Besides, if the game is balanced for a higher difficulty (as so many people are insinuating with The Last of Us) then I believe that to be a failing on the part of the development team, not the person who reviews the game on the standard settings. And I will always review a game on standard settings, as that's the baseline.

I think that helps a lot, that since it is a smaller size, everything is very community-based. It makes the whole site seem a lot more down to earth and friendlier.

Well said,Rodney. I too thought that this site was kind of troll-proof. Sounds like I was wrong on that. That ass clown is just trying to stir up things. The reviews on this site are generally spot on,so I don't understand why he went off like that.

leeradical42

07/02/2013 at 01:13 PM

Well the bottom line is sure if you dont like the reveiw and have to comment fine im sure these guys are use to that but to just flat out attack him like that was un called for i mean if you order a pizza and dont like it most people return it and never eat there again, and if that clown dont like it go to another site but from what i can see this isnt the first time he attacked julian like that.

Well I just put the axe to Anonymous Commenting... not a foolproof plan, but it should certainly minimize troll attacks like we saw on The Last of Us Review. If they are so inclined, they'll have to register to put in their $0.02.
