Lets face it most of you will see this game and keep browsing, without even considering to take a look but the bottom line here is you will be passing on a special breed of game, one you only see on pc, and for Kalypso to port this over from pc to console and to do it this well deserves your time in its self, in my personal opinion this is a very well made game, and yea most reveiws gave it bad to moderate reveiws the deal is most of the reveiws that were done on this game were done by reveiwers who have no idea what there playing. This game has a cult following, either you like it or you dont, but with the steep learning curve most of you wont give the game the proper attention it requires to play and this is a sad thing.

So why doesnt this game get the recognition it deserves well for one most gamers of this gen are comfortable with there Call of Dutys, Gears of war, Assins creed, type games when a diferent breed of game hits the shelves most of todays gen gamers wont touch it, really the only reason these games survive are from either pc players who 9 out of 10 times complain that its not as good as the pc well duuuhhh of course not but its very clise and good for a console port, it has a economic model thats outstanding and with three new dlcs for it its even better, most people dont have the pateince to try and if they did and learned the mechanics and understand what this game is they would love it, yea theres a steep learning curve but well worth the time invested, and very rewarding.

So no im not working for Kalypso and no im not trying to sell this game im just trying to get other gamers to open up there minds to other generes so we can get more games like this, the game comes with two campaigns out of the box a trader campaign which you take the helns as a trader who not only trades for profit but invest and build up towns into citys of your choosing, or you can taje on the adventure campaign where you take on pirates and taje sides in the revolutuon then if you decide to get the dlc you can get two more campaigns and take on the role of a pirate with your own hideout, and the new lands campaign where you turn New Orleans into a thriving city theres alit to do and totally worth the $30 price tag.

So this is a game i would totally recommend and if your wondering if this game is for you at least try the demo on xbox live, unfortunately this game is only on pc and Xbox but very much worth the ourchase.

this reminds of me Pirates!, which I played endlessly as a kid.  I've always been interested in this game, just never picked it up.

You're opening line hit home for me..

I've seen this game many times, and everytime I've seen it I passed it up. I guess I'm just closed minded and getting more and more stubborn in my old (ish, lol) age.

Reminds me of a spiffed-up version of an old Apple II game called Taipan that I used to play for hours on end back in college.
