I can't think of a proper title

Recently I have been listening to the shut up and sit down podcast.  It has been quite entertaining and has gotten me into the mood to play more and more board games.  While I may have a greater desire, I am having difficulty actually playing them.  The biggest problem is that I do not have a large enough group at my disposal for the time being.  Another problem is Fire Emblem Awakening.  Fire Emblem is all that I think about nowadays and all I try to do with my free time.   Getting back to board games…  I got my Kickstarter copy of Boss Monster just over a month ago and had only played it once.  Over the weekend I had the opportunity to play it again with some of my cousins.  The game is so much better once you know how to actually play it.  When I first played it, my brother and I were making it up as we went along because we did not really have the patience to read the wonderfully NES era rulebook.  The game is awesome and I am so glad that I kickstarted it.  I also recently picked up a copy of the cave, but have yet to play a round.  I am quite excited about it and hope to get around to it soon.

A return to the topic of Fire Emblem.  I am nearly 6 hours into Fire Emblem Awakening and am surprised that I have not quit the game yet.  Normally at this point in tactical RPGs I become frustrated with them and just quit.  It happened with Advanced Wars, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics and plenty of others that I cannot remember.  I absolutely love Fire Emblem and have been thinking about it, or playing it nonstop since I picked it up.  I have not touched Xenoblade Chronicles since I picked up Fire Emblem.  This means that this is serious, because I have only been playing one game at a time all year.  I love the cast of characters and am just trying to get as many married couples on my team as I possibly can.  I should probably focus more on leveling up some of my lesser used characters, but the marriages more fun.  Anyways, I cannot wait to jump back into the game.

Sony just finished up their Gamescon conference a little bit ago.  I was paying a little attention to it and have come away with a few thoughts.  Firstly, I am glad that I canceled my PS4 pre-order.  It just so happens that the PS4 is released the week before my wedding anniversary.  I highly doubt that my wife would be pleased if I spent our anniversary playing Killzone.  So, I like being reaffirmed that I made the right call.  I did not think that it would be possibly, but I want a PS Vita even more.  I know that the majority of games that they announced are indie, but it still excites me.  I was not expecting to hear that Borderlands 2 is coming to the Vita.  It will be a little late, but I suppose better late than never.  If it does well enough, I wonder if more companies will port PS3 games to the Vita.

In case I lost anybody along the way.  Board games are cool and I want to play the more often.  Fire Emblem is amazing, and I cannot wait to get back into it.  The PS Vita is becoming a more compelling piece of hardware.

On a side note, I have been listening to this song a lot recently.  Not quite sure why...  Of course, I cannot find an easily linkable video, or maybe I am an idiot.

Band:  Smoking Popes.  Song:  Blanket in the Park.

I almost started Fire Emblem.  I just bought a 3DS and I wanted to start Fire Emblem or Shin Megami Tensei IV.  I decided to start SMT4 and when I finish it, I plan to play FE:A next.

There are a handful of people around here that recently picked up a 3DS.  Unless I sidetracked by the gbc zelda games, I will probably tackle SMT IV next.

SMTIV is a beast.  I'm almost 11hrs in and I still feel like I'm at the beginning of the game.

That worries me a little.  I had to give up on Strange Journey because it was taking a while  to pick up the pace.

I quit Strange Journey too.  I play that game for almost a full year.  I got to the last boss and was completely destroyed.  I mean didn't come close.  I put too much time into that game.  I was done and I quit. Frown

I didn't even get that far.  I think that I only hit the 2nd map of the game.  I hated how you spent nearly 2 hours before you even hit the playable part of the game.

Yeah, that was crazy.  I don't understand why some rpgs have such a long introduction.  Many of them take a hour before you start playing anything.

Boss Monster sounds dope.  I haven't contributed to any kickstarters yet...  but I haven't been paying attention to most of them either.  I know there's some cool stuff out there though.

I should probably just block kickstarter so that I am not tempted by high hopes and false promises.  I will definitely keep tabs on games that get kickstarted, but I think that I am going to stop actually putting up the money.

Are you playing Casual or PermDeath? I am stuck again on Chapter 17. ugh!

Casual.  I did not want the added stress of permadeath.  If I play through it a second time, I will definitely try permadeath.  I just finished up the 10th mission.

Board games are great but I suffer from a similar problem of lacking people to play them with. Still, I've enjoyed some good ones, like Pandemic and Forbidden Island (those are both cooperative games, which is pretty cool). But my favorite is Dominion, a deck-building game. I could play that all the time and though it's best with four people, my wife and I have played it plenty by ourselves.

I have not played it, but I will definitely add it to my ever growing collection of games to check out.  I did luck out and my wife did really enjoy carcassonne and catan, and those are still fun with only two players.

I have Catan! Used to play with some friends from high school/college but I haven't touched it in several years. I like it but games tend to go pretty long, especially with 4-6 people. I guess a 2 player game would go a lot quicker. I've heard really good things about Carcassonne.

I prefer Carcassonne to Catan, but that is probably because I have spent far more time with it.  Also, with how the game plays, it theoretically should be a quicker game than Catan...

Got an email today that they just dropped the price of the Vita to $199.00. I played a version of Risk a fews years back a couple of times that took place in the year 2030 or something. It was cool you could even put units on the moon. But other than Monoploly don't have much expireince with table top games.

I have been playing more and more german games as of late, stuff like The Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne.  Careers is my game of choice if I go the Milton Bradley/Parker Brothers route.

Swap Fire Emblem to Pokemon Diamond, and you get what I'm currently addicted to. Gosh, I love those little monsters.

I got a gameboy really late, and by that point Pokemon was on its third or fourth incarnation, so I did not bother playing it until Black and White.

Yeah, I couldn't find that song either. I've been listening to "Lightning Crashes" by Live a lot.

I always loved hold me up by live, probably just because of Zak and Miri.  I love that film.   As far as the Smoking Popes, I have been listening to that entire album and Need You Around is also an awesome song that I cannot stop listening to, and can find a video for.

I like it.

Since I'm into all things nerdy, I'm sure I would love board games. I would have to find at least another person who plays them in real-life though. Someday.

This is precisely why I like the shut up and sit down guys.  Their whole philosophy is to show people how amazing board and card games can be.

I tend to quit out of tactical games early too. I got FEA on day-one but still haven't got to it yet.

For shame, I would suggest casual though.  I have been having a blast, probably because I do not have to worry about characters dying and never returning.

I'll remember that.

I love board games, and I'm a complete beast in Scrabble!
Not sure why, but I don't think I've ever lost, lol

That is how I feel about Bananagrams, which is probably why I am not the biggest fan of it.  I know that I will win.

Good save. I made sure to remove all gaming distractions during important anniversaries. Even if your signifigant other is a gamer it's always best to have priorities first. Kudos for you!

I love my Vita. If you have PSOne nostalgia you can play them all there. If you love indie games it is great there as well. Plus they have great games on their own.

I do have about two dozen psone classics that are going to waste because I no longer have a Sony system.

It is a surprisingly good system for them. I recently played Wild Arms on mine.
