Life continues to be fairly hectic.  I am still making my way through Alundra in my free time.  I have been binge watching HIMYM while playing the game.  I am pissed at Ortiel again for updating Cookie Clicker's acheivement list.

I have taken advantage of Target's B2G1 deal on videogames to expand my 3DS collection.  I think it was a wise decision because those first-party Nintendo games rarely seem to drop in price anyways.  I grabbed copies of SM3DL, Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus, NSMB2, Mario Kart 7 and a second copy of ALBW.  I had downloaded ALBW when it first came out at absolutely love the game.  The reason that I picked up a a physical copy is that I eventually plan to upgrade my god-son's DS to a 3DS.  If I already have a copy of the game to give him, then I don't have to worry about going to far over my gift budget when I finally get him the 3DS.

Alundra continues to be slow going, even though I consult a guide ever once in a while.  I have put about 28 hours into the game so far and feel as though I still have a ways to go to get to the end.  Thinking back, I want to say that The Witcher 2 was the last game that I put that much time into.  That feels like such a long time ago...

Not much else is going on.  I celebrate my birthday tomorrow.  Last year I could not actually recall how old I was going to be.  This year I know, it is 26.  In some ways it feels like a lot of time, but in other respects it feels like nothing at all.  Anyways, I have a brewery tour at Lakefront to look forward to tomorrow.  I hope that they have Fixed Gear and their IPA on tap because I am craving those at the moment...

happy birthday!  I was living in Philly when I was 26, eleven years ago.  I met the girl of my dreams there.

Alundra seems like a slog, but game like that put hair on your chest, or somewhere, I guess.  Laughing

I haven't played Link Between Worlds yet.  I want to finish Link to the Past first.

I am enjoying Alundra so far.  There are just a few things that are kinda pissing me off at the moment.  Specifically the jumping and the lack of an overworld map.

Yes, you should probably finish ALttP first.  Such a good game.  I gave my neices and nephews a copy of the GBA version of ALttP and I think that they have been eating it up.

Happy B-Day! Hitting those mid decade ages are weird. I totally freaked out when I turned 35.lol Alundra is a tough one. I have started it twice over the years and I still have not beat it.

Just find a guide and keep it close, just in case.  I think that is why I have stuck it out for so long with the game.  Otherwise I would have probably become frustrated and given up by this point.

I have a guide thankfully, but its a bit simple and more desription and less pictures. The instructions it had for a certain tough puzzle were almost as confusing as the puzzle its self.Yell

I forget how old I am all the time.  I don't really think about it much.  I still feel the same as I did as when I was in my early 20s.

I'm 33 and still get carded fairly often when buying alcohol at one of my non-regular stores. A couple months ago the cashier must not have believed my license was really me (my hair is alot longer than in the picture), so she asked me my age.  She had to think my ID was fake when my response was "uhhhh....32...no 33,I think...umm..I was born in 1980."  I was surprised she still sold it to me.

LOL. Yeah, I should have gone to get my new license photo taken this past March, but I didn't feel like driving to the DMV, so I'll just have to put up with a license that now says I'm over 21 (24 to be exact, which is for some reason when you need to update your driver's license) and has a picture of 16-year-old me still on it. The good news is, I do look the age I actually was in the picture. The bad news is I've already been in two management positions at my University in my Senior and now Graduate years, and unless I'm formally introduced, everyone thinks I'm a college Freshman. lol

Happy early birthday, Phil! 26 sounds like a cool age but I just know I'm gonna have a quarter-life crisis next year when I turn 25, so I'll just enjoy this awesome 2014 I'm having until then. lol I always know what age I am because being born in '90 makes it so easy to calculate.

I may look into those beers you mentioned.

I still need a 3DS and a PS4. I should have bought a 3DS last year and a PS4 this year to say I bought a 3DS in 2013 and a PS4 in 2014, but oh well. Money isn't there yet.

I vaguely remember talking about beers in the past, or at least reading a conversation that you had with somebody else about beers...  I just wish that I could remember the styles of beer that were talked about at that point.  Fixed Gear and the IPA are very hoppy and hoppy beers tend to be big turn offs for people...  maybe it was Alex who is studying abroad in Belgium.  Damn, I seem to be forgetting a bunch of stuff today.

Alex, Phily Kuts, and Travis Hawks are the only people I remember talking about beer with ... I've heard hoppy so often, yet have no clue what it means.

[Looked it up] Oh, bitterness. Yeah, I don't even like Guiness cause of bitterness.

If I knew what kind of beer you have enjoyed in the past, I could possibly steer you in the direction of something that you might enjoy.

IPA tend to be an acquired taste.  I didn't always like them.

Hoppy does not always mean bitterness. Different kinds of hops introduce different characteristics. Some hops (Galaxy and Cascade to name two) can impart a citrusy flavour and can taste a bit like grapefruit but other hops don't.

Guinness, when stored and poured properly is nowhere close to bitter, but if you've only tried it out of a can then I might agree.

It was in a glass, but I was little and it was at a Bennigan's. My parents were sharing with me. We always used to go there for St. Paddy's Day before it shut down. We used to leave before the wet t-shirt contests though, cause again, I was little. lol I always ordered cheese sticks there, cause the actual Irish food sounded "wtf?" to me as a kid, but I wish they'd have stayed around, cause I bet I'd like that stuff now that I'm a Foodie and a hispster. Where am I and what were we talking about?

Oh yeah. in the past I've enjoyed the Left Hand Milk Stout that comes recommended with a Loretta burger at the Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House in East Dallas.  I also like bitch beers, like Corona, Smirnoff and Sky Blue. I'm cool with Dos Eckes. I prefer mixed drinks or liquor like St. Brendan's Irish Cream or Jim Beam with Dr. Pepper, when not watered down (it's supposed to taste pepperminty, but its other flavor is watered down coke).

I can't believe Google .... lied to me about what "hoppy" means, though. Has Google ... lied to me before?

Wait ... ok I misread that box. Never mind. Google's still God. I can rest easy.

I tend to equate hops and bitterness to the less educated masses when talking beer.  I know that there is far more to hops than just bitterness.  I recall some study saying that a person's enjoyment or lack there of hops is genetic.  Something along the lines of how you either love or hate cilantro because of genetics.

The beer is guaranteed.  Beer is probably all that I need to be content at the moment, that and bowties.
