I've only had about a week with this game and I've already unlocked all of the tracks. So far I really enjoy the rollie-poly and loopd-da-loop tracks, as well as the soundtrack and visuals. I haven't played a Mario Kart since 7 on 3DS or Double Dash. I tried out both, the gamepad and the little driving wheel, and I actually prefer the driving wheel, it's much lighter too. It makes me feel like a little kid playing it. I mean it in a good way.

How are the extra features like online? I noticed there are online tournament features in this game? Has anyone tried it? I'm wondering what keeps people playing it aside from just 3-starring and winning trophies?

Nothing bad to say about the game really. Really cool. I also got Zelda HD as a free bonus, so I can't complain. Zelda HD is quite awesome by the way. If you didn't believe in HD remakes, this game shows everybody how it's done. Would have liked extra dungeons or Master Quest like Ocarina, but whatever. Hero Quest is pretty interesting for you Dark Souls types!

Have a nice weekend!

Ooh, me! I have it! *waves hand in the air violently*

I haven't tried the extra stuff though. It's just been me and my wife playing through all the cups in the various speed classes. We have one more gold to get on 150cc. I'm guessing there's a mirror mode after that. I really like it and I detested Mario Kart Wii. The music is awesome!

I'm like you then. I'm just replaying all the circuits over and over to get gold! It's like the original xbox acheivments. I even like the way coins are valuable to get in the races to unlock karts and things. I'm trying to gold star all the tracks in 50cc I think, or whatever the first levels are.

Mario Kart Wii tracks were too wide, and the game was too easy. This is somewhere in between a casual game for newbies and hard for veterans. All good!

I actually like the online with randoms too. I like using the Miis!

I got all the stars on everything in Mario Kart 7 and it was really hard. This time I'm just going for the golds. Screw those stars! Lol. I'm not sure why but I think the Grand Prix is actually more difficult with two people instead of just one. But it's loads of fun either way. I don't doubt that we'll try the online sooner or later. I know several (non-Pixlbit) people who have it and of course there are always random folks, like you said.

When we started out on 50cc, I used a different character every time. That was fun. But I'm down to just using Yoshi now with the same car parts each time. Gotta know your limits and what you can do when the gauntlet is down on 150cc.

It may not be my favorite Mario Kart in the series, but it certainly is the best looking one.

Who is your favorite racer?  Mine's Toad!  Always has been!

Hahaha, my friend Robbie HATES Toad and says his NPC in the game is a jerk.

Anyway, I wish I could have one of those arcade cabinets with the wheels and shift pedals for all racing games at home.

I watched Wind Waker HD via the Game Grumps Let's Play and it looked really good, but I'm fine with my Gamecube copy.

this is one of the games I'll be getting when I get the Wii U for my son this Xmas...Wind Waker for my ol' lady...Mario Kart for all of us....and some sort of RPG for myself.  Xander will no doubt want something that has dinosaurs in it.....

The thing I am SUPER sad they did not do in this is put in Dry Bones and Baby Bowser. Otherwise it is a very solid game that my fiance, friends, and I always play together!

I'm surprised the game doesn't have any DLC features. If any game could use DLC it's this one. Extra characters, karts, tracks, etc.

Maybe it's something they will think about and bring it (wishful thinking haha) but it would be amazing if they did!

*Raises hand* I've had it since launch and it's certainly the best one to date. I've been playing it everyday since and I've gotten gold on all cups and all the 3 stars in all the modes. I've also beaten all the staff ghosts with only the standard parts without using any of the mushrooms. I also have all the stamps too and got all the golden parts so in a way I've mastered the game. I've also dabbled in the online stuff with some friends and it's pretty fun, I've used the tournament thing only once during the San Diego Comic Con tournament and it's fun too. As for favorite character to use, Rosalina. I use her in every game she's playable. If anyone wants to race, let me know.

Can you offer any tips for getting gold? What are stamps and gold parts? I've only unlocked tracks and trying to get cups for all 50cc races. Wow, you're like a super fan! The game is pretty fun, and totally buying new hardware for. Cool

I think it's easy getting gold, you have to play each course at least once to get the feel of the track that way you know which paths to use next time you race. Also, faster parts are a good idea but try using something you can actually handle in terms of turning. As for stamps, you get a new stamp every time you complete one grand prix cup with a new character, every character has at least 1, including your Mii. You can check how many stamps you have in the main menu, it will show your total stamps in the bottom. You can also press the + button to see which ones you'll have, that way you can tell which character stamps you are missing. Each character has 2 stamps, but you'll only have one for each at the start, which is why you need to use a different character to get their other stamp. Gold parts, good luck getting those. There are 3 in total, a gold kart body, a set of golden wheels, and a golden glider. You get the kart for getting gold or getting at leat 1 star on all cups on all classes. The wheels are awarded for beating all ther Nintendo staff ghosts, and the glider is a pain cause you need to have collected 10,000 coins in total. The problem is that you don't know the totla number of coins you'll have, the only way to tell is when you unlock a new part cause it tells you like you've collected 100 coins, here's a new part so you'll have a rough estimate. The last part you'll unlock is at 2600 or 2800 coins, after that you'll have to guesstimate yourself. Good luck getting those parts though.
