Another Summer Gone

Well, September is upon us. My MMO Summer is officially over. And good ridance. Strangely enough I've decided to put my focus back into shooters for some odd reason. I'm not particularly fond or good at them, so things should be interesting. Also, since it's getting closer to Halloween, I'm going to dive into more horror themed games as well. So that is a preview of future blogs. Shooters & Horrors.

If you read my last post, you know I was having a bit of a problem with Operation Racoon City. Kicking off my Shooter&Horror themed blogs got started off in a real bad way. I actually finished the game and got past the hard part, but I'm too tired and confused to put a proper review together. I think some of you might appreciate if I did, as I would have enjoyed a warning/impression from this community before I dove in. Actually, it isn't all that bad. My impression is actually quite positive, despite some annoyances. You'll have to stay tuned to find out why I guess? I'm too tired to do it now.

I also jumped on the Silent Hill Vita bandwagon. I only ever played the demo, but really liked it and it was on my backlist. I'll be running for my life and beating things with blunt objects for a while. Also, adds to the Horror theme games I suppose.

If you wanted to know about the last MMO I was playing, it was Defiance. I actually don't think very much of it so I didn't bother to post a full impression of it. It's not bad, just OK. Actually, on PS3 it's pretty ugly and it kind of turned me off. Also, there were a lot of spongy enemies, that just absorbed ammo like mother fuckers, and it kind of annoyed me. Sometimes a few bros would lend a hand, mostly not. It's a very bro-y kind of a game. I like science fiction and military themes, but nope!

So that's that. What gaming plans do you all have for SeptOctNovDec?

Oh! I also need to finish up on Demon's Souls. So expect to see more posts on that. Probably beyond August.

I plan on finishing RE4 at some point I guess, along with Arkham Origins and GTAIII.

I need to finish my 2nd playthrough of Mass Effect 2, finish my rental copy of South Park: TSOT. In the meantime I'm busy with Diablo 3: UEE and looking forward of course to Destiny.

I enjoy Defiance as a TV show but apparently the game is not good. Big surprise! :)

The last time I was in the PSN store it was free but I didn't go for it.

Spongey enemies are the worst. I wonder if that Defiance tv show is still going? I don't know if it got renewed, I haven't heard about it or seen any Sci-Fi Channel advertisements for it. Granted I don't watch that channel much to start with so I might just be out of the loop.

I think the second season just ended. I've actually read good things about it. I still need to check it out some time. Oh and you hanen't heard about it because the game is supposed to advertise the show, and the show advertise the game. Derp.

I'm with Mothman..it's pretty decent show-wise (I need to watch season 2) but the game is ugly as all hell. I think I put in about an hour and a half before I realized it wasn't going to be something I'd ever spend much time with. Glad I'd only spent 10 bucks on it.

Horror games you say? Perhaps this is the perfect impetus for me to actually get into the copy of Resident Evil 4 HD I've had sitting in my library for 3 years. The game's generally loved by all, especially 'round the Pixlbit site.

Operation RC wasn't too bad, you say? If I can find it for the 4-5 bucks you paid for it, I think I may just jump on it. Couldn't hurt, right?

With Operation Racoon City, I got stuck in one area and found it difficult to progress, but finally got through. I think the game has a lot of good things about it. It plays like other RE games, except I think basic enemies are really tough. I like challenging games though. I might keep replaying it with other characters.

So you can only replay finished levels in multiplayer? How does it work? I have to make my way through the first zones still.

KnightDriver was the host the first time, so he has to keep hosting but it lets us just keep going. We'll be playing again tonight!

Except now I've missed it because I couldn't pull myself away from EDF2025 playing tandem with my friend Mark. Sorry about that. I've got to get back on the ball. I think I'll make myself ready 7-10 Sunday and Monday for this here on out. I was thinking 5pm before this and it was a little early. I don't have that much time playing with Mark by then, but 7pm seems better and I should be able to pull myself away from whatever we are doing by then.

That's alright, man. I just didn't know what was going on. But later works better for me too. My wife is the point in her pregnancy where she can't really get own son to bed by herself anymore, so I probably won't be ready till after 8. Just FYI

I think the level progression is seperate for single and multiplayer.

I just got to a zone, four or five, where I completely wiped out! It was that fucking Butcher! Bastard! All that progress lost. Restart at beginning. Re-explore the map. Ahhhhhhh! I will not let this game defeat me! Nope!

I'm finally playing Mass Effect 3 and really enjoying it. No telling how long it will take me lol. I'm hoping to play some more horror games as Halloween approaches (I played Dead Space earlier this year). Right now I'm leaning toward F.E.A.R. but I also have Condemned. I'll play Alan Wake if Angelo decides to do it for Backloggers Anonymous. I know I won't have time to play them all though.

I was looking into playing F.E.A.R again too. I love that game! I recently finished Dead Space 2, and don't feel like revisiting right now. Alan Wake just wont go on sale on Steam! It's like $30. I need to get to that one. I'm playing Book of Memories too. The games difficulty just spiked up like in the 4th zone. Now I need to buy more consumables and stuff.

Hmmm, I guess my plans for the next couple of months is trying to knock out a couple of games off my backlog and start thinking about which games will make my games of the year blog. Also I want to continually upgrade my base on Star Wars Commander.
