It's Dangerous to Go Alone: Let's talk Alan Wake

For some reason I have a save file for Alan Wake on my 360, but I couldn't find the game box any where and I know I've never played it. I'm assuming it was a demo at some point, and that's what my save file is for. Any how, I have the game on PC and I'm playing it for the first time. I only got throught the first part but so far the introduction has me hooked in-- in short I love what I'm seeing.

I should tread back a bit and remind everybody that I was planning on playing shooter/horror games for fall, and I chose this game since I've never played it before as a selection. I can't say much about it except I like the story, characters, location and mystery behind the game. I'm a bit weird about the combat mechanics, but the atmosphere is enough to keep me going.

I went back and watched all of "Twin Peaks" series, David Lynch films and this game gives me those vibes, which is a good thing. It's kind of like Deadly Premonition, which I'm also playing at the moment.

I was wondering what some thoughts the community might have about this game. Have you finished it? Did you enjoy it? What are some other games similar to this. I see a lot of similarities to Silent Hill and Resident Evil. I also enjoy the nightmare sequences. It's like a cool sci-fi/horror movie but as a game.

I have Alan Wake but haven't gotten around to it yet. Backloggers finished up FFX (which I didn't participate in) and I'm hoping Angelo will decide to tackle Alan Wake in October. He's been talking about it for a year or more now. I think I'll probably love it.

It's a pretty cool game. I have no idea where the story might lead to so far? Is it all a dream? Is the main char. insane? Interesting.

I played it a long long time ago whenever it first came out (Long long time ago as in.. what, 4 year? LOL).

I don't remember TOO much, but I remember feeling indifferent on it by the end of the game. I wanted to be more scared of it than I was, but I finished it feeling somewhat satisfied I suppose.

I actually pre-ordered this game and then for some reason never got around to playing it. It sits there on the shelf, taunting me whenever I look over at all the games I own and have yet to play... Deadly Premonition is there keeping it company and also making me feel slightly guilty.

I actually found the gameplay in Alan Wake tedious and dull. I would have much preferred a story driven game like Deadly Premonition or those Walking Dead TellTale games. I only got upto to second stage in Alan Wake and I don't think I'm going to finish it.
