Games Beaten

For the first time this year, I didn't finish any games over the course of the month. That's a bummer but my wife and I did have a baby (#2), and he and his brother have kept us very busy. I'm starting to develop too many loose ends in gaming again, so hopefully I can tie most of them up in the next few weeks.

Games Bought

First of all I forgot to put Disney Infinity (Wii U) on last month's recap. My wife found it at a consignment sale for $12 (retails for over $60 on Amazon). I finally found a complete copy of Operation Darkness, an early and underrated strategy game for the 360. It's set in an alternate universe WWII where Hitler has vampire powers or something. I'm really looking forward to playing it...eventually. I happened across Midway Arcade Treasures (PS2) at Goodwill and picked it up mainly for Gauntlet, but then later in the month I bought Gauntlet IV (Genesis), so there will be no shortage of top-down arcade action in our house! We also snagged Costume Quest 2 (Wii U) for Halloween. Rounding out this section is Tales of Graces f and Tales of Xilia, both for the PS3. My wife has been wanting to try these games for the longest time and the Namco sale on PSN was too good a deal to pass up (we got both in a bundle for $15).

There was some good stuff in the PS+ games this month too, like Dust: An Elysian Tale (PS4) and the two D&D Capcom beat-'em-ups, Tower of Doom and Shadow Over Mystara (PS3). Also got Rainbow Moon (PS3/Vita), which I'm very hesitant to try after hearing how long it took Mothman to get through, and Spelunky (PS4/PS4/Vita), which everyone seems to love in one of those masochistic kind of ways. Oh, and Pix the Cat (PS3/Vita), whatever the heck that is Tongue Out

Now Playing

This has become an unfortunately long list. I had hoped to have Mass Effect 3 (360) done a long time ago but I played it only once all month. It's just been too difficult to sit undisturbed for any significant length of time. I'd also hoped to finish up Darkstalkers: The Chaos Tower (PSP) because it's a great game for October but I didn't play that at all Frown I did play some of Kirby's Dream Land 2 (Wii [GB]) because my two-year-old loves watching Kirby but I haven't finished it yet, and I started Costume Quest (Mac) while my wife played its sequel on Wii U but there wasn't enough time left in the month to get all the way through (I'm about halfway). The only game I kept up with at all was Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP) but that's because I play with some people online, so it kind of forced me to play lol. I'm hoping November will be better. December will be crazy at work, so I gotta play while I can! But first...I have to go change a poopy diaper.

My cat has been distracting enough, can't imagine a human baby eating into my time. Hang in there, man!

I know! And not enough time to play them! Speaking of which, sorry I haven't gotten back to you about Silent Hill: Book of Memories yet. Life has just been too nuts. But I do want to get back to it. Are you still free on Monday nights? That would work better for me than Sundays. Except for...tonight lol. But you wanna plan on next Monday?

Ok. Next Monday then. I guess around 7 or 8pm? I think I'm past the really obsessive phase of Borderlands Pre-Sequel.

8ish should be good. Just has to be after my son goes to bed.

at least the baby isn't a teenager.... yet.

My mom once told me that God made babies cute so that their parents wouldn't kill them. Teenagers wouldn't stand a chance lol.

my sister's oldest boy is twelve now, and is a sulking little bastard.  I don't know how she does it.

My sister's kids are just entering their teens. I get to watch by the sidelines and learn from their mistakes, that is if I ever have kids to bring up.

I'm betting it looks really great on the PS4 Smile

The Genesis soundchip takes a lot of flak, but there were some developers that did some great things with it. Gauntlet IV has one of my favorite soundtracks on the system. The Quest mood is pretty cool too. I'm kind of curious about the recent reboot despite the mixed reviews it recieved.

Jeff highly recommended Gauntlet IV, so I'm looking forward to playing it. I'll be sure to pay attention to the music. I had forgotten that there was a reboot o_O

I was always bummed that Operation Darkness never made it to the PS3, where it would better fit that console's theme of "alternatve history gaming". But then again there is Darkest Days on Xbox 360 to consider.

that's something I've come to terms with if and when I become a future dad. I'm sure my younglings will keep me from my hobbie but it's to be expected. The kiddies come first.

NO Darkstalkers: The Chaos Tower this October?!?!? HANG THY HEAD IN SHAME!!!

I think Operation Darkness came out so early that the PS3 wasn't a viable dev option yet. I remember reading an interview somewhere at some point lol. But you're right, it definitely would be a better fit on the PS3. Too bad it never got an enhanced port or something. I'm not familiar with Darkest Days though.

I'm super bummed—and ashamed!—that I didn't get in any good Halloween gaming (well, I did start Costume Quest). I've heard that the Tower mode in Darkstalkers is really hard too Undecided
