So that New Tomb Raider is XBOne exclusive after all.

Microsoft is publishing the the game after all. Keep in mind that it is a Square-Enix game and so there is still a possibility of it appearing on a Sony platform sometime in the far future like Mass Effect. I was wondering why no one posted about this on here. Is it still just a rumor?

Now I didn't particularly care all that much about the recent Tomb Raider reboot, and I am more than happy to play through older games again, but this kind of sucks for fans though. Is the game really worth owning two consoles? I need not even mention Street Fighter V and it's PS4 exclusivity which was announced at the same time as Rise of Tomb Raider being published by XBOX. Hmmm..Undecided

I still believe it's a timid exclusive, other platforms will probably see the game in 2017 to 2018 which sucks but even if I have an Xbone by that time I'm waiting. It started on PS4 with me, that's where it will continue. I read regarding SF5 that Sony is helping make the game and they support cross platform play. Microsoft doesnt. It's the same reason why they didn't get A Realm Reborn. They have something in terms and policy's regarding it. Their gonna have to change their policy's if they want things to change for them. This whole being against cross-platform play will bite them going into the future. PS4 and PC users will get to match off against each other so it will be fun playing with any one here that grabs it on PC and PS4.

Exclusive isn't as bad a word as it use to be.  I'm sure if there is money to be made Tomb Raider will show up on the PS4 and I know Street Fighter 5 will show up on the XBO.  It may be Super Street Fighter 5 (XBO) and not just Street Fighter 5. Laughing  On top of that, why put SF5 on PC?  Microsoft Windows is on PC.  If it can run on PC, it can be ported to XBO.  MS and Capcom aren't stupid.  MS still wins if the game is on PC (if only by a little).  Since when are fighting games released on PC even important?  I guess SF4 (PC) was more profitable than I thought. Undecided

Dude, fighting games are just becoming important on PC. Skullgirls, KoF XIII, Ultra Street Fighter 4, Guilty Gear, now Blazblue and also a bunch of indies, the genre is now gaining traction and many said it's becoming a good plataform to play them.

Fighting game players are a very niche group.  Even more so on pcs.  Selling to casuals on consoles is where the money is really at.  Casual gamers have little to any idea what King of Fighters, Skullgirls, Guilty Gear, or Blazblue is.

I just said they are becoming more prominent on Steam, some doing even better (like Skullgirls). You also need to remember that PC gaming is having a resurgence of sorts, so now a lot of games are either starting there or being ported to PC (like Valkyria Chronicles, which became an unexpected hit on Steam).

Just like Dead Rising 3 and Ryse used to be the powerhouses of the Xbone but now you can find them on Steam, i'm sure the new Tomb Raider will appear on other plataforms, even if it takes a year or so.

I saw a few posts about it being a timed exclusive on here a while back. I thought it was already confirmed as such.

Well, either way, I won't be playing it for a very long time, as I just can't justify the expense of a new console in my current financial circumstances.

I hear ya! I'll have to wait unti PS4 and XBOne are on someones sidewalk sale or a swap meet, and I will be like 70 years old. Cry

Why aren't games all streaming from the cloud now? This console stuff sounds so "last gen" to me. I mean, how much longer do we have to put up with buying THREE consoles to get access to all the games?

I like what you're getting at, but please, not streaming. For games, it sucks.

It was kinda tongue in cheek really, but I wonder when the technology will let that happen.

I liked the Tomb Raider reboot alot but no way am I going to buy an Xbox One just for that game. I don't forsee myself buying an Xbox One period because I have a PC, PS4 and Wii U already...

This is part of the reason why I'm holding back on next gen, I have a PC so I can play the new Street Fighter 5 and Rise of Tomb Raider and other 3rd party games, plus I already own a WiiU.

I have a lot of fun with the Wii U, given I haven't owned a Nintendo platform since the NES. Once I bought the original Playstation, I was hooked.

I'm with you on this one. I have no reason to buy Xbox One, because the PS4 and the Wii U have me covered. PC, too, I guess, but I'm not a PC gamer. And if I miss out on Rise of the Tomb Raider,

I agree with you as well, meaning I have a PC but I would rather buy it for PS4 if given the choice. There are so many unknowns when getting a game for PC (bugs, compatibility, downloading clients...etc) and I am not computer savvy enough to manipulate it all the time. I just like popping a disc into my PS4 or Wii U and going.

I always have this concern with PC, if a game will work or not. If I had to choose, I'd buy a PS4. I honestly didn't care about Tomb Raider that much. I want it to be good though.

Um... No.

If it were permanently exclusive, Microsoft would be screaming that from mountaintop.  It's timed, but they're not just going to come out and say that.  That would be bad for business.  But after all the backlash, Spencer even admitted that the exclusivity has a duration, and Square Enix just reiterated that.

It is disappointing that I won't be able to play this game on the PS4 (unless they get ro release it years down the road) but this is good news for folks who own both consoles.
