So How Is Everyones '_____ of the Year' Game List Coming Along?

I can't believe it's been a whole 'nother year of games gone by. I still haven't bought a PS4 or an XBOX One, but I still played too many games, and didn't have time to go through my backlog, and 2015 is looking to hit us really hard in our wallets with a wave of new games. My Top Ten is probably already decided. I've played a few new games recently that were off my radar and there are still a few AAA games that I won't be getting into until next year probably, or at least until I buy a new console.  I'm curious to read everybodys winners. If you've read any of my blogs, you probably already know what my favorite games are going to be without too many surprises. I might just drop the whole top ten list in one blog randomly one of these days. Be sure to keep an eye out for it.

This was a slow year for me. Probably only played about 20ish games, and was underwhelmed by most of them. Not sure if it's an indication that games were bad this year, or I had a rough year that kept me from enjoying them, or I need a break.

Dragon Age has caused me to seriously question if I still want to do this.

Thats funny because I actually feel like there were plenty of great games this year, and they've only gotten better. Granted, I do include PC, Indie and mobile games as well as MMOs. I also tried to branch out and try genres I've never really cared about before. Old school RPGs like Divinity Origins and Empire building, resource games like Endless Legends. Oh, and card deck games like Hearthstone.

On a side note, what was your dislike of Inquisition? The thing that is putting me off from it is that it seems to have removed dialog and story elements from previous games in favor of an open ended action game. If this is true, then I'll just wait for a price drop because I can get that from any number of MMOs honestly.

Also, I think you may have had a rought year. I was planning on quitting games mostly because I feel overwhelmed with choices, not necessarily because I think they are getting worse.

That's definitely true for a good part of the game's beginning, but once you get Skyhold as your base of operations the story and character interactions take a huge step up.

I'm sure it's because you're still slogging through the Hinterlands. Get out of there asap. It's probably the most boring map of them all.

My top five most played games this year will be a pretty good indication of my favorites, but there were some shorter ones that I liked a lot. There were some I know I'd love, but haven't played yet like Diablo III UEE, that should be on my list. It's hard to get to everything. I think I'll make a decision though and then add other short lists along with it to cover stuff I really liked and stuff I missed.

Diablo 3 is really good I think, I've been playing a lot of it. It will keep you away from other games for sure, but I usually go to it is my fun action game in-between the other games I've been playing that are more challenging.

I'll have my Game of the Year blog up in late December/early January.

Since i'm always late to the party when it comes to new releases, I mostly plan to blog about the games i've played this year that I found memorable and i'm pretty sure none of the are from 2014.

and I'm just a cheap bastard so I'm late to the party on most new games. Wink

I'm slaving away at my top 10 still for Plus 10 Damage. My number 1 will come as no surprise to anyone, but overall it's been a solid year. I'll be looking forward to yours.

and I'll definitly be looking forward to yours. Mine are fairly predictable as well. If I blogged about it, I probably liked it.

I'm not sure if I'll do a goty blog this year or not. I didn't play enough new games to justify it really. I only played a handful of 2014 games and all the rest I played this year were backlog games. If I were to make a list now it would be Dark Souls 2 goty and COD Advanced Warfare as runner up.

The list doesn't have to be only new 2014 games. It can be the most fun/best game you played this year. Who the hell can afford so many new releases? It doesn't even have to be 10 games. I was thinking of doing Top Gamer Outrage of the year like #Gamergate, and Tomb Raider, Street Fighter console exclusive. Hmm...

That sounds alright, I may be able to get on-board with this after all. You changed my mind.

I might do something similar to what AlexC25 says he's doing and write an end of the year blog about the most memorable gaming experiences I had this year, even if they weren't from 2014 games.

This year was a huge step down from last year, except for Wii U, which has been great.

Lots of good stuff I played this year.....however....

Dark Souls II really captured the spotlight for me.  It was easily the only game I thought about while not playing it...I watched all kinds of videos on YouTube that deciphered the lore....it was the sole platinum I went for this year...I put somewhere in the ranged of 400-415 hours into it.

You and Chad converted me.  I beat all 3 Souls games this year, and am thirsting for more.

As you stated in a previous blog, I hated the Souls games before I actually sat down and put in the effort necessary to get engaged in them.  As it stands now, the franchise is easily my favorite of all-time.

I probably sound like a fanboy, but I don't really give a fuck.,

Dark Souls II for President.

I posted my awards show blog I think before Christmas and I'm happy with my list. It wasn't full of the latest and greatest but they were games that I enjoyed in 2014.
