Can we talk about Metroid and motion controls. ;_;

Since the whole Metroid Prime Trilogy is on sale for $10 on WiiU eshop, I'd like to know if anyone played the game on Wii and what you think of motion controls? I'm disappointed that Nintendo didn't allow for Gamepad or ProControl support. I got to bust out the dusty old Wii Motes and look for batteries I guess. But, my God! $10 for all 3 games! OMG!

I am wondering the same. Seems like an awesome deal, motion controls sound iffy though Undecided

Works a lot better with motion controls. Original ones aren't bad, but less intuitive than on the Wii

I have the same concern.  I hate motion controls.  But apparently these games are the bomb.

The motion controls work but its just kind of exhausting, especially if you have a bad wrist like mine.

Honestly, I think they are excellent and motion controls allow for a less restrained camera and pointer.

I'm not too thrilled with the motion controls. I'm never totally confortable with them, but Metroid Trilogy is awesome.

I love the pointer controls (there's no waggle, except for Prime 3). They are so much smoother, they just feel right.

I'll take your word for it. I remember Prime Echoes being hard. I was wondering if the motion controls would add to difficulty or not. Are there any geriatric settings for older gamers?

2 is definitely a tougher experience than the first, but it's totally manageable. If you set the controls to "Expert," they are pretty snappy without having to move your arm/wrist around much. It'll probably take a little getting used to if you played the older games, but once you do, you'll never want to go back to the Cube controls.

Retro also made some adjustmenst to some of the fights in Prime Trilogy, so some of the encounters aren't as frustrating in the original game, Echoes.

There was a similar trilogy set for the Wii I wanted it until I played Prime 3. The Motion controls suck. It really made it hard to enjoy this game. I would find myself suddenly aiming at the sky or the ground. Now in all fairness this was not totally game breaking but it could be very annoying. If they are motion control only that would explain the super cheap price.

Not similar, IT'S that one. And I don't know about you, but I never had any problems with the motion controls, neither on Prime 3 nor the other two games.

I only played Prime 3 with motion control and its possible they may have tweeked the controls for the trilogy. This was not a constant issue but it happened enough that it got to be annoying.

I've enjoyed it (the first) so far for the past 4 hours with the HUD and Helmet's visibility at zero, so that I can enjoy the widescreen view. Also I had to turn off the Lock-on/Free-aim, as it was nagging me when I locked on and the cursor would detach itself from the target. I have the sensitivity set to expert. Have had no issues with my Motion Plus Wii remote aside from sitting too close to the sensor bar sometimes hahaha.

Does Motion Plus enhance the game any besides the regular Wiimote? I'm just using the standard wiimote+nunchuck. I have expert sensitivity as well. Do you still get weather effects if you turn HUD visibility low? So far the game is great. You have more hours than me. I hope the controls workout for the other two games as well.

That I know of the Motion Plus doesn't add anything to the gameplay in Prime and Prime 2, as it only uses the IR sensor. In Prime 3 it might add precision because to the gameplay elements that require the motion sensor.

You can still see the effects on the visor. Including the reflection of her face.
