FFXIII - Brynhildr Goes Down

Yes. The first 10 chapters or so are very linear, forward moving stages- like FF10 maybe. There is a point where you get dropped off in one enormous large area, where I spent like 10 hours or more just grinding and you will find enemies way above your levels just roaming around. It's sort of like a mini MMO type level, or large open world if you will. I think it's Chapter 11. Just keep going.Cool

I forgot Sahz and Vanille are seperated from the group at this point and you only have two person party.  Boss fights do get harder though. Some people quit earlier than you have.Cool

I should clarify what I meant about FF13 not preparing you for boss fights. If you go through regular enemies, I think you can rely on Auto-attack for a majority of it. You can switch through paradigms and auto-attack, but for some tough enemies and boss fights you have to sort through the individual commands and use buffs and debuffs and so forth. Not just attack-attack-attack. I haven't played 13 in a while and my mind thinks of 13-2, but I think bosses are supposed to be staggered first then attacked with commando or something like that. In any case, I remember Hope getting Haste sooner in his crystarium and thus stayed in my party for that reason for most of the game. Sahz is a great party member after he gets Haste in my opinion, but he gets it later in his crystarium if I remember correctly. Anyhow, it's an awesome feeling when  you start learning the games combat system and start taking down bosses like a boss. It's a bit hazy nowadays. Anyhow, I remember using Fang a lot with her Sentinel ability and Hope for Haste and Lightning for Commando. I mixed it up, but I played them a lot . Lightning/Hope/Fang.Cool

Improving on the Great Tomb Raider

Swimming in the last Tomb Raider game was actually fun. I think the old games hit the ceiling with the series and started going after magic/alien themes. Area 51 and Valhalla or whatever. The other games had her traveling around the world to exotic locations. I guess I still like the old TR.

How long do you plan on playing MH3? Is this a one time thing or seasonal thing?

The boss fight encounters were much harder than regular enemy battles in the game. It's like the game didn't prepare you for the boss fights at all. Buffs and Debuffs are essential to boss battles in the game. Haste is my best friend.Cool They get worse.

JRPGS have left me in a state of ambivalence recently

I still play my PSP from time to time. There are quite a few PSP games I missed out on in the passed that aren't available on VITA yet. Good little machine.

Ive played both versions. PS1 and PSP. PSP has stretched graphics, but playable nonetheless. Boy the end game content.

Tomb Raider is Incredible

Well, I think the old games were getting a bit stale, so a dramatic change was needed. It seems to be pretty popular, so maybe the next game will feature classic Tomb Raiding.
