The Great D&D Experiment

The best way to learn to play is to just play.  I completely understand how daunting the rules can be, but the basics are actually quite simple.  And you don't have to know them all - that's why we keep the books handy!

Yeah, it's exciting to get some of the gang that hasn't had the time to contribute regularly together for some D&D.  We hope that this experiment of ours will pay off.

Casey, we all know that Hector is a well known pathalogical liar, and an exagerator of great proportions.

I've played a few messed up characters in my day, and played with far more.  We're all a little mad sometimes.

Pathfinder is generally seen as D&D 3.75, so you've pretty much played D&D (There are plenty of folks that hold Pathfinder as the superior game these days).

As for permadeath - with the amount of newbies in the game, I can't rationalize that quite yet.  However, there will be real consequenses for resurrection (financial and physical).

I think we'll post some kind of highlights or something after sessions.

Heard on that.  Thankfully the seller totally remodeled so there is very little that will "have" to be done right away, or even in the near future (Aside from replacing the water heater, but that's not too bad a thing).

I figure if civilization crumbles I'll be quite useful as someone who can procur alcohol, honey, and cheeses!

I did end up playing Metro Last Light and found it enjoyable even though it was incredibly linear.  I think 2033 took more risks and was a more interesting game, while Last Light was much much more safer and clean.  You should still dig them though.

And yeah, I'm gonna end up with a PS4 either at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.  I can't rationalize getting one just yet, and all the good games are coming out in 2015 with few exceptions (I can wait for a game like Destiny).  I hope those ports come out as value games.  I loved Tomb Raider and The Last of Us, but I'm not seeing enough of an update to warrant a full price game - I'm hoping for $20-$30 for those.  That seems fair.

I actually check Comicbookresources.com rather regularly.  It's a pretty good site for the enthusiast or even casual fan.

I've never watched Arrow, but that's because I could never get into the CW shows.  Didn't like Smallville or Birds of Prey.  Arrow just held no appeal for me.  I do watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. though.  That's a show that's thankfully gotten a lot better as its gone on (the first few shows were rather weak IMO).

I totally expect there to be aliens in that History Channel game.
