Wii U Gets Third Party Support

Nintendo's newest console already has an impressive line-up of third party titles.

It’s been many years since Nintendo had the support of third parties for a home console. With the change into HD, many of the developers saw the Wii as a weaker system, choosing to develop their titles on systems with superior graphical capabilities. However, at Nintendo's Press Conference today, the company was thrilled to announce the vast support they will expect for their newly revealed HD system, the Wii U.

Smash Bros Being Developed for Both Wii U and 3DS

The two titles will interact in some way.

Iwata revealed during the Nintendo press conference today that Sakurai and Project Sora are working on two versions of Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS. These two game will interact in some way, but there is nothing else known about either title at this time.

Project Cafe Officially Called Wii U

The controller will indeed feature a touch screen, dual sticks, motion control, camera, sensors, and can play games on the controller.

The promotional video shown during Nintendo press conference has revealed that Project Cafe is actually called Wii U and does in fact contain many of the features leaked by 01net a while ago. The controller will feature a 6.2 inch touch screen, and will be fully compatible with all of the Wii peripherals. Players will be able to play games right on the screen, rather than needing to use the television.

Nikkei Confirms Cafe Touchscreen Controller

In addition to being a controller it can be used as a portable gaming machine.

As has been rumored, Nikkei (translated by Andriasang) is now validating claims that Project Cafe will indeed feature a touch screen controller. They claim that the controller can be used specifically for its intended function or as a portable gaming machine.
