With the release of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on the horizon, there is a whole new batch of Mega Evolutions to be found as well. Pokemon who are fully evolved, but in the midst of battle can turn into a new super form of their regular ones. These boosts usually come from better stats, but can also have a tradeoff (such as more bulk, but less speed) or an awesome new ability. So here's my pick of the five best new ones. 

A few years ago I made a blog specifically pointing out Bayonetta and Bulletstorm for issues I had with the stories. Mostly that they had detailed plots, which a lot of people misinterpreted for having cutscenes and stories. I was never happy with it and have always wanted to correct it, and while playing Bayonetta 2, I thought about a parallel to one of the greatest comedies ever, The Big Lebowski. 

It was announced last week that Assassin's Creed Unity would run on 900p and 30 FPS on both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One to "avoid controversy." That is a stupid reason, but watching the latest Jimquisition showed me a follow up statement I missed, where they claimed 30 FPS is more cinematic and the amount of pixels should not matter. These statements are dumb on their own, but I'm not going into that. I'm going into a past of this game where only one conclusion can be drawn: Unity is a development cycle of contradictions.

Alex recently typed up a great piece about Limbo up a game that is not traditionally thought of as horror, but is effective in giving that feeling you get from horror games. Which got me thinking over which games scared me that no one really praises for their horror elements. Well, it turns out my (as of a month ago) favorite game does that very well, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. Yeah, not that much of a change from my old favorite, but after playing the restored version, I....you know what, that deserves its own review. 

So I traded in Destiny with it. I liked the game, but there was not enough to keep the game fresh. There was plenty of content, but what it lacked was effort. 

So Blake asked me what my ranking for Mario games would be. And I thought that would be fun to write about them. I'm keeping it to just the platformers because if I ranked all of them that would mean including Kart. And sports. And RPGs. And Party. And Yoshi. And....Wario? And.....

If you are one of the fortunate souls to not know about any of the toxicity which took place in gaming over the past two weeks, I envy you. Don't look it up unless you want to hate the internet forever, instead just know that one of the results is a petition to shut down Steam for one hour because of sexism. 

The Simpsons will always be my favorite show. I grew up on them and as I got older, found out they're even better when I got older. And with that marathon starting Friday, I can't wait to rewatch Bart set camping traps around the house for Homer, Skinner to lie about steamed hams, and the burlesque house song.

One bit of news at Comic-Con is that Sam Raimi is producing The Last of Us movie while Neil Druckman, who wrote the video game, is writing the script. Ever since it was first rumored, however, many people have been against a Last of Us movie. How it would condense too much from a fifteen hour game. How it would probably not tell the story as well as the game did. I agree with both of these notions one hundred percent. And I am also one hundred percent on board with this movie.

So my PC is finally built (and it's fantastic), and I kind of like to get a new controller with a new gaming device. So I saw a good deal on an Xbox One controller (which now works on PC) and figured I might as well give it a try. And even though I don't have every current gen console, I do have every current gen controller, so I thought I would give you all a detailed showdown to see which is the best of the three. At the end we'll see which is the overall best of the three.
