I've been playing the first few Dragon Quests and the first few FFs, and it's interesting to see how they both evolved in tandem -- like they were trying to 1-up (RIP) each other with each release.  None of them hold up particularly well, but as pieces of history, they're absolutely fascinating.

My theory of their success is that they accomplished exactly what they set out to do, which was to make pen and paper RPGs accesible to everyone.

I have DQ1 for mobile as well, but on Android. It's a real tight game. At times it's incredibly vague and frustrating, and I had to look at a guide a bunch, but I really loved it.

Glover basically has been given an award for his show Atlanta, and he says "I'd like to thank the Migos, not for being in the show, but for making Bad and Boujee, like that's the best song ever."

What a guy! Who else would shout out something completely unrelated like that ?

The Shaggs are a really tragic story of a father who forced his kids to be in a band, but they were utterly musically untalented. Frank Zappa and Kurt Cobain really loved them, apparently, and they're like the patron saints of weird/awful/outsider music.

I actually love mumble rap. A lot of it is very self aware about how dumb it is, so there's a lot of humor in it. Might not have much of a message or technical skill, but it's fun!

I love them, even though I know I can't listen to anything they released for more than 20 seconds before wanting to kill myself lol. Record industry products deserve to be criticized!

Agreed! Ocarina is slowly becoming one of my favorite games.

8 is great! DQ music is alway really traditional and takes inspiration from itself, so it's always interesting to see how certain themes and motifs have evolved through time.

Holy crap that Neil Cicierega is awesome! I've only know him from the Potter Puppet Pals and "Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" from way back when. I had no idea he was still around doing awesome stuff.

Ariana Grade in Final Fantasy is one of the weirdest, unexpected collaborations I've ever seen, yet it straddles the line of "trying too hard to appeal to youngsters" and "actually really cool" in advertising perfectly.

The character design is really great, imo.
