BaD TV Thursday and Deadpool PS4

My free rental last night at red box was Deadpool for PS4. Must have had it because the movie comes out tomorrow.

Anyway, I love how much crap they've put in as far as the writing, and it really does capture Deadpool well as a character; I think it's an addictive run n' gun and/or slash game and I greatly enjoyed what I played.

A couple issues are that it is repetitive, with a lot of the minibosses being repeated even early on. It seems like it would be a short game with only ten levels, but alas I only had yesterday and today. It gets real choppy with the framerate in some cases and wall jumping feels virtually automated, but none of this has made the game unplayable and I haven't gotten bored yet. I'm looking forward to playing it more tonight.

Anyway, from the "2016 in American Television" list on Wikipedia, here are my most anticipated shows in 2016:

Awards Shows

Even if I didn't want to, I now teach a 101 media course, so I'll definitely catch Grammys and Oscars this month.

Shows Premiering 2016

I'm excited for NBA on ABC ... or I would be if my TV picked up any channels not CBS.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee interests me; I like seeing Daily Show people

Good God I could not care less about Fuller House; WHY?!

If I had cartoon network, I'd check out Justice League, but it'll have to come to streaming for me to watch it

I've actually watched an episode and a half of Chelsea Handler's Netflix show. It's ok.

Otherwise I know too little about or am unable to watch new shows in 2016

Miniseries debuting 2016

Honestly, all of these interest me, it's just a matter of time or being able to watch on whatever channel

First airedTitleChannelSource
January 18 War and Peace A&E, History, and Lifetime [136]
January 24 The X-Files Fox [137]
February 3 Madoff ABC [138]
April 19 The Night Manager AMC [139]
TBA Roots A&E, History, and Lifetime [140]
Race for the White House CNN [141]
Taboo FX [142]
The Young Pope HBO [143]

Television films and specials

Lol Sharknado 4; that was FAST

Programs changing networks

I get why it has to happen, but it sucks kids w PBS will be nine months behind HBO; such an odd place for a kids' show; when I looked into it they said it had a lot to do w kids being on their tablets and HBO being better optimized for that platform. I feel ... not the greatest about that.

Also, Smackdown was on SyFy?!

Programs returning in 2016

I'm curious about X-Files, which I believe is already airing new eps

I love game shows, so it's cool to see $10,000 Pyramid

I really need to watch the rest of original Arrested Development so I can watch the newer Netflix ones

Magic School Bus 360 is awesome, was not aware that was being brought back

Was not aware of a Gilmore Girls reboot. Never watched it cause seemed too "girly," but now I'm wondering if I'd like it.

Then Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack coming back

Milestone episodes in 2016

ShowNetworkEpisode #Episode titleEpisode air date
2 Broke Girls CBS 100th "And the Coming Out Party" January 13[166]
Last Man Standing ABC "The Ring" January 29[167]
New Girl[168] Fox "Reagan" February 9
Once Upon a Time[169] ABC "Souls of the Departed"[170] March 6
The Big Bang Theory CBS 200th TBA Spring
NCIS 300th
Pretty Little Liars Freeform 150th Summer
The Simpsons Fox 600th Fall

I'll probably only watch The Simpsons out of these, but holy shit I did not know they had 100th episodes for 2 Broke Girls already?! Is that because they just have more episodes a week? I did not realize they'd been around that long, or some other ones.

Programs ending in 2016

Weird to see Mythbusters and American Idol go, but I guess I can stream old eps of former and never really cared about the latter which has been replaced by stuff like The Voice (which I don't watch either)

New Seasons 2016 (Various sources)

I'm majorly excited for House of Cards to debut right around Super Tuesday in the midst of this batshit election season.

I would like to watch more Supergirl on CBS; I liked the debut, just haven't remembered to watch it; I'm also going to give The Flash a try on Netflix at some point

I've been watching season 1 of Better Call Saul on Netflix and it looks like one I want to keep watching

March looks to be a good month for me with my favorite Marvel TV show returning in Daredevil

Happy birthday month to me!

I'll be looking for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Kong in April

Then it's Orange is the New Black in June.

i gotta remind my dad to watch The Night Manager.  He loves that John Le'Carre stuff.

my mom watched the Madoff show.  Couldn't really stomach it myself.

I really wish I had the patience for TV.  I know there's some great shows out there, like Daredevil.

Don't know about that one.

My brother Jeff reviewed the Deadpool game on PS3 for me.  I'll probably skip out on the Deadpool movie.  It has the potential to be either really funny or really raunchy, and my guess is the latter.

I have the first few episodes of the new X-Files recorded, but I haven't watched them yet.  I used to watch X-Files all the time when I was in college, and I met one of the stars of the show at E3 one year, too.  It was the lady but I can't remember her name.

I don't really watch a lot of regular TV, but I do catch the new Muppet show sometimes on ABC.  My favorite new cartoon, Gravity Falls, is ending this month, which is sad, but I guess nothing lasts forever.  I haven't been this into a cartoon since DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, and Animaniacs.  So yeah, Gravity Falls is really good.

Speaking of Disney, did you know that in 2017 and 2018, they are doing new episodes of DuckTales and Darkwing Duck on Disney XD?  Can't wait for that!

My guess is it'll be both, but I get that Deadpool is not your style.

Gillian Anderson, who plays Scully I'm guessing. I just looked it up.

I need to watch The Muppets, I forgot about that! I'll have to check out Gravity Falls as well, I think NostalgiaCritic was watching those.

I did not know that, but if I had cable I'd love to watch The Year of the Disney Duck 2016.

Gilmore Girls isn't bad.  My wife watched all of them on Netflix and I watched my fair share of it too.  It's girly, but it's also funny.  At least my wife & I thought it was funny.

Yeah, the one time I watched it on TV they had Sonic Youth on.

Yeah Smackdown on SyFy was an odd choice, but at one point Destination America had TNA AND Ring Of Honor, two competiting wresting promotions on the same channel. Smackdown is on USA, and I still will only watch if I remember that it is on.

I'm shocked that NCIS is at 300 episodes. I think I only catch it now when USA does the NCIS marathons. I've haven't watched a new Simpsons episode in maybe a year and half. I might have Simpsons burn out.

As much as I love music, I didn't watch the Grammy's last night. I already knew Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar would win so I watched WWE Monday Night Raw, and just followed the Grammy's on Twitter.

I haven't watched a new Simpsons in many years, but I return for their specials sometimes.

The only things you really missed out on were Kendrick Lamar's amazing performance (Again) and Gaga doing Bowie. At least, in my opinion. It was cool to see other tributes to Motorhead, Eagles/Glenn Fry, and Stevie Wonder making fun of someone for not knowing how to read braille was a highlight.

I really want to play that Deadpool game.

Rent it or buy it on sale, cause it is short. But what's there is  damn good/addictive. I never did make it to the last (10th) stage though, apparently that's where things get unfair.

It's around $40 still at gamestop. I'll wait for a good sale.
