Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!  I got you all Valentine presents!  New game reviews from the site I write for!  Just what you always wanted, right?  Well, at any rate, I hope you get to click on the links and read the articles, and maybe post a comment or two.  I’d appreciate it.  In particular, check out my PAX South write-ups.  I went to PAX South in San Antonio, TX the weekend before last, and I took a lot of pictures.  And stay tuned to the end of this blog for some Valentine’s Day fun, too.  Thanks for reading!

PAX South 2016

They’ve had a PAX convention in San Antonio for the past two years, and since it’s in the same state where I live, I decided to go last year.  It wasn’t very eventful, but I decided to give it a second chance this year to see if it was any better.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t.  Everyone said it was bigger, but it was really just more spread out so it just looked bigger.  There were fewer companies there, and the only big console company there this year was Capcom.  So it really wasn’t worth the trip in a business sense (it was still fun to be with family).  I probably won’t go next year unless I only stay for half the time, or if they decide to move it to Dallas (which would be cool).

PAX South 2016: Cosplay Crazies!

I did manage to take pictures of cosplay people dressed as video game characters, so I made a separate blog featuring them.  So check it out if you like cosplay stuff.

Pac-Man Bounce (iPad)

I found a couple of new free-to-play Pac-Man games I decided to review.  Pac-Man Bounce is a puzzle game where you must place arrows and walls to make a path for Pac-Man to bounce around on while avoiding ghosts.  You must make sure the path is safe and allows him to eat stars and keys and make it to the exit.  It would be a lot more fun, but the free-to-play nuances ruined it for me.

Pac-Man 256 (iPad)

This is a MUCH better free-to-play Pac-Man game.  I think it was made by the same folks who did Crossy Road (never played that one).  But this game has a pretty creative premise and the free-to-play nuances didn’t bother me as much here.  If you have a device that you can download it to, I recommend giving it a try.

Call of Duty Pizza Rolls

You can tell when it’s a slow time and I run out of things to review.  I saw this big box of pizza rolls at the grocery store and it had Call of Duty brazened all over the box, and it cracked me up so I decided to write about it.  I love how the package has the ‘Rated M’ symbol on it.  I know it’s meant for the game, but it looked like the pizza rolls were rated M!

Amiibo Gifts

And this is me showing off my latest batch of Amiibo figures I got for Christmas.  I’ve gotten more since then, but that’s a blog for another time.

Minions Paradise (iPad)

I know they’re WAY overmarketed, but I still like the Minions because they’re cute and funny and remind me of Servebots.  This game is just a Farmville ripoff, and didn’t hold my attention for very long, but the Minions are still cute.

Dash Quest (iPad)

Someone here at Pixlbit actually mentioned this game in a blog awhile back.  It’s a continuous runner with an overhead 16-bit RPG theme, so that interested me enough that I decided to review it.  It didn’t really hold my attention for very long, though.  But then, repetitive runner games usually don’t.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

And that’s all for my reviews.  Thanks for reading and commenting, I really appreciate it.  That’s really the best Valentine you could give me.  Valentine’s Day can be a pretty rough holiday for many folks, and normally at this time of year I try to say something positive about it.  But unfortunately, I’m just not feeling it this year.  I’m almost 40 and I don’t have a successful career, or a house and a family of my own.  Well I do have a family, but not one I started myself.  You know, wife and kids and such.  In fact, all that seems like an unreachable pipe dream for me sometimes.  So sorry folks, no cheerful message from me this year.  Life sucks.  I am working on a couple of good things, though, like applying to be a part of the National Video Game Trade Reviewers Association and volunteering at the National Videogame Museum, so keep me in your prayers on that, too.

But I try to keep my spirits up as much as I can, and one way I do that is to sometimes be a little silly.  So here’s a silly Valentine’s Day question you can answer in the comments section.  If you could give Valentine’s Day cards to video game characters, which ones would you give them to?  I would give Valentine cards to Samus, Cammy, Ulala, and Reiko Nagase, and I would say, “Thank you for saving the world and beating up all the bad guys.”  And that’s all for now!  Later!  --Cary

I'd give Deadpool a Valentine's Day card, just to see which of the billions of ways that could possibly go ends up being what happens.

Deadpool is pretty crazy.  He was funny in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and LEGO Marvel, but he can also be pretty raunchy so I may wait on the movie.

I doubt the movie will be for you. R rating is a pretty good hit it will be raunchy. It would be boring if you and I and everyone else liked all the same things though.

Yeah I like adult humor every now and then, but anything on the Family Guy/South Park level isn't my cup of tea.

I like the Pikmin cosplayers.

I'm in the same boat with life goals and such. Depressing, isn't it. Well, I keep working at it, and I'm sure you will too. Good luck with the video game museum. That sounds fun.
