Moving Pains

Well, if you're wondering where I was yesterday, I was helping my older brother move into his new apartment. Took a lot longer than expected; I thought we were going to be there from like 9:30am to 4pm, ended up being more like 11am to 11pm. But hey I got some exercise in ... and somehow, a sunburn... and we ate at Boomer Jack's which is a good bar and grill place. Dad bought food, my brother bought drinks. Very nice of both of them.

To tie it back into this site, I also found out he had kept all his gaming systems and games, including his NES, SNES, PSX, and PS2. Even still had the SNES Super Set box that came with Super Mario World.

That's just a picture off Google, because I didn't really feel like sending it to my e-mail from my phone, just to copy paste a much less clear picture, only from the side, on here. So there ya go.

That's really all I have to say right now, so I'm just gonna go back to commenting and responding.

The SNES is my most favorite video game console ever.

That's not surprising. For many people, that thing is the golden age of gaming. Not even "represents," just is. lol

Have a lot of great memories playing it myself, even opted to play it over my friend's 360 in college. Street Fighter II: Turbo is just too damn fun.

I miss that system! I gave it to my exwife when we split and she sold it. lol Stupid broad.

Yikes. I hope at least she got a decent sum for it, or did she know what she was doing with it?

Well, they look to be around $20-$40 on Amazon if you want one...

I was thinking about getting a tri-system. NES/ SNES and Genesis all in one for my retro kick.

Yeah, that would probably be the best bet. Personally, I kinda want that Nintoaster thing or whatever it's called in AVGN videos.

I think the SNES was one of my favorite sytems after all it did produce Ogre Battle and Ogre Tactics.

I've never been a huge JRPG, strategy, tactics, etc. gamer, but SNES was great for those from all accounts I've read. It was also great for action/platformer gamers like myself that prefer the pick-up-and-play variety. I think only the PS2 would rival it in terms of library quality and diversity, and I know you love collecting those PS2 games. Both great systems.

never had a SNES.  But someday I will!

It was an awesome system; so much so, I kind of want my own. Maybe a hybrid of old consoles like coolseltzer mentioned.

I still have my SNES box. Mine came with The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past. :)

Sweet! I actually never got into Zelda when it was on SNES, it looked boring to me at the time, and my older brother's girl friend (that space is there for a reason, they were just best friends growing up) had it, but every time I played it, I just died, and got upset at those guys on the bridge with the arrows.

I played a bit of it through emulation, and now I can appreciate how much less hand holding there was in it than 3D Zeldas, and hell, I didn't think I'd like Ocarina of Time until I bought it towards the end of the N64's life, when Majora had been released already. Now those 3D titles are some of my favorite games.

At least I haven't stayed totally stagnant from when I was four until now. lol

I started with Zelda in 1986 when it was brand-new, so I knew what to expect. Because I was experienced with Zelda, I found A Link to the Past to be a breeze because of the vast improvement of the controls compared to the original game.  The original game had good controls for its time, but the SNES in general improved on the controls of the NES as much as it did the graphics and sound of the NES.

A few months ago Alex and I helped some friends of mine move heavy furniture too. lol. Luckily Gavin was nice enough  to pay us each $20.00. We would have done it for free but it was nice to get something on the side.

The snes was one of my favorite systems of all time. Good times, man!

SNES was great. And that's cool you got $20! I can't say I worked for free either, as the margarita my brother got me (Coronarita, I should say), was about $8.50, and the burger my dad got me was $8.99, plus taxes I may have technically made out with more than $20.

Good times indeed!

Moving sucks, helping people move sucks even more. Especially when you're not going to get paid for it.

It does suck, but at least it was family I was helping, and there were breaks in between the heavy stuff. Can't complain too much, I got a workout and some food out of it. Not how I'd ideally spend my Saturday, but not a waste of one, either.

Now that I no longer have a truck, no one ever asks me to help them move. I love my Subaru! It's cool your brother still has all his systems. I do, too, but I didn't start until the Genesis, and then I didn't end up getting another system until the PS2 came out, when we got Jason's little brother's old PS1.

Well, he only started a generation of consoles before you, so you're not too far behind him.

We were lucky in that my brother has a yellow Chevy pick-up, his friend also had a Chevy pick-up with a large bed, and we had my little Honda Accord to carry the extra stuff. Only took two trips that way, and the second one didn't require a second truck.

I'm also glad my car isn't one people would ask to help move with. It's nice, isn't it? I remember in college, people would say how much they hated having cars, cause it meant constantly being asked for rides. lol

Moving sucks, but there's something about moving to a new place that seems kinda exciting for some reason, I mean for me. Like everything just feels different despite having all your stuff. When we moved from my old place, it actually took us a week to move, well it took us 2 days to ove everything but 5 days to pack everything.

As fir the SNES, it would be my most favorite system ever if I had one, but it does have Super Mario World. My favorite system ever has to be the Gamecube, that was when I truly became immersed in gaming and had all my favirute games. Like WW, F-Zero GX, Soul Calibur 2, and more.

Yeah, I need to get a place of my own, too. Can't be in mom and dad's forever. Thought I was out of the woods when I got my job, but that is not looking like the case.May have to go back to college and get an MBA or MFA.

Gamecube is my favorite console as well. It was the first I paid for myself, and when I really started being a cunt about trying to get everyone to own a Gamecube and ensuring my virginity for a few more years getting into the console wars, and all the hype and such. Big fan of all the games you mentioned, as well. The one with Link really was the best version of SCII to me.

The worst part of moving is whenever someone accidently finds something embarrassing in which you thought you got rid of long ago..

end of story.. lol

Well, I didn't find any embarassing stuff of my brother's, so we're clear there. lol

Good to hear that the move got done, even if it did take longer than expected. And it's always nice to see old systems being taken care of. Brings joy to my heart.
