$5 Flash Sale Haul

I've crossed out the games I put in my cart, but decided against. I wanted to cap things as close to $20 as possible (wound up with 5 games for about $22)

Dark Cloud 2 I remember enjoying a rental way back when, but I just can't guarantee I'll have the time for an RPG, even an action cel-shaded one ...

Journey - Still salty I missed the free PS+ giveaway, but I don't mind paying for the full game after reading goaztecs talk about how you don't really "own" your PS+ titles.

Knack I keep thinking "I miss 3D platformers and this is cheap and looks better than reviews," but with Yooka Laylee coming out I'll just wait for that. I realize YK will be new/more expensive, but why throw away any money on something you think will be average?

Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham - I looked for Jurrasic World, but it wasn't in the sale. I own Marvel Superheroes, which I got for a similar price, so I now have the Marvel and DC LEGO games I want.

Psychonauts - I already own it on Steam and initially deleted it from my cart, but ... well, I don't think I'll buy a new laptop straight away, so ... we'll see if I regret owning it two places. I definitely don't regret buying Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, despite owning the original on Steam.

Rogue Galaxy  Basically, same thing that happened with Dark Cloud 2, only I've never played this one before. They both looked really good, though. Maybe I should have traded the Psychonauts slot for one.

Saints Row Re-Elected - Let's see if I'm one who likes this more than GTA. I almost didn't get it, cause I keep thinking Re-Elected is DLC rather than a remaster. Luckily, I watched the IGN review and wound up getting it.

Strider - I just needed a 2D side scroller fix. I loved the demo and played a bit last night. So far, fast and fun.

The Order 1866  Still curious, but bad reviews keep me away. I wonder how rangergirl likes it.

The Wolf Among Us  I'll probably finish my free copy of Walking Dead Season 2 before deciding whether or not to buy other TellTale games. I don't watch most of the shows they make games for, so this one looked more interesting to me.

Otherwise, I've been trying to get all the doodads and extra stuff in Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. When I owned the original Steam copy, I had to pray and sacrifice animals just so it wouldn't shut my laptop down on lower settings, so I'm taking advantage of not having that problem. I forgot how addicting this game was and I'm actually raiding all the tombs this time around.

Always loved the concept and hated that it wasn't on GCN.

Journey is one of my favorites! Such a neat little experience. As much as I love it though, I would think that $5 is appropriate for it. It's really short.

Yeah, I also love Shovel Knight and want it on PS4 just to use the control pad instead of the Xbox 360 controller I use with Steam, but that's not happening til it goes on sale. Not that it's a short game, i just think it needs to drip below $15.

Milk the ones you got is a much smarter, less expensive strategy.

I looked through the sale and thought about a couple things but ended up not buying anything. I've realized that if I don't really want something, it just goes into the backlog black hole, never to be seen again.

Journey is so good. I highly recommend that one. Make sure you can play it in one sitting (3-4 hours). Best not to break it up.

That's the thought process i use to cut these lists down. Unless I've already had my eye on something before a sale, i don't buy it. So while RG and DC2 looked really good, I wasn't going to fall for the sale tap of buying games I'm not 100% sure I'd like.

Knack isn't a bad game. I thought it was still cheap at GameStop but apparently it went up to $20. It's not worth $20. I think I bought my copy for maybe $10 and I thought it was worth that price. It'll be on sale again.

Lego Batman 3 was fun, I liked it more than 2. The DLC isn't that great but it does have minifigures from the Suicide Squad, Arrow, The Man of Steel Flick, and something else. There's a lot to do with the regular game so I wouldn't worry about not picking up the DLC stuff.

Oh that Saints Row is a lot of fun, and since you got the pack with all the DLC the America gun was my favorite. It's silly fun

Strider is fun. I have it on Steam but I haven't played a lot of it.

I own the Order but I haven't played a lot of it. I should fix that and count it towards one of the games I have to complete.

I'm sure it will be, but I'll probably just ask for Yooka Laylee as a bday gift or something.

I don't plan on messing with DLC for LEGO Games much. I already think 20 is too high for some of those games given how repetitive the story missions can be.

Yeah, I'm glad it's all the DLC, and not just DLC itself.

I'm 10% into strider. I can't tell if the game wants me to backtrack or not for some of these items.

Again, I was hyped for the order when it first released, but those reviews ...

Saints Row was awesome.  I wish I had alarger HD because I would not have deleted it...  ...  and yes, it is better than GTA.

I've been thinking of getting a TB for my PS4, but to me that's too expensive a one- time purchase so deleting stuff once I've finished the story it is.

I played The Order 1866. It's so gorgeous and the voice acting is great, but I got stuck in a battle I couldn't win. Maybe it was me though. The game is pretty straightforward, no open world stuff for the most part. It's basically a corridor shooter with astonishing production values.

Had you told me that earlier i might have bought it. If the lack of open world was a major criticism then I should have. Linear is fine by me.

I was somewhat frustrated that the game wasn't as interactive as it could have been. All those gorgeous environments with all that detail, I just wanted to pick things up and mess around with them. Some things you could do that with, but not a lot. It sort of reminded me of Bioshock Infinite. That game looked so amazing but you could interact with only a small set of things. I likened it to a comfy couch that's always kept wrapped in plastic. What's the point of that? You can't enjoy it.

I owned many of the games on sale.  I thought about picking up Lego Batman 3.

I still don't own Lego Batman 2.  How did you like it?

Oh, this is the first LEGO Batman game for me. Only other LEGO game I own is Marvel Superheroes, which was $6 on sale. That one has a surprising amount of content and the open world stuff is surprisingly fun (as opposed to the more tedious extras available in story missions). I'm hoping LEGO Batman 3 is the same, but for DC. I also like that Kevin Smith and Conan are in it (Batman).
