(In case you're wondering, as far as my cousin's family in Boston goes, they're all ok; hope yours are too, and if not, my thoughts are with you, stay strong)

Well, this morning I got an e-mail from a research compoany about filling out surveys for money (I had forgotten that was a thing I inquired about from Craigslist). Good news, I'm all signed up, bad news it seems to have meant "hey, here's the OTHER sites you'll have to sign up for to do this." Blech. Well, no financial information has been transferred and when it asks, I stop filling out forms (as with anything online where I'm not specifically requesting to pay for an Amazon shipment), and it does seem like the websites are actual, legitimate research sites I've heard of, so maybe I can start repeating that time Nielsen sent me ten bucks in the mail. Still using that envelope as a money holder. Smile And if not, there's not a whole lot they can do with the information I've provided but send spam, anyway. Annoying, but easily fixed, if that's the case.

Speaking of money, I got my check from my PA job in the mail today, so that's more good news.

Plus, I'll get Orientation for the other freelance job this Thursday, since I finally finished filling out the forms for them. Wanted to make sure the "List accounts here" section of the W-9 it was saying was required wasn't asking for my banking account numbers or routing numbers, or I'd have just said "fuck no!" and stopped filling it out. Luckily, the woman I talked with on the phone said "just put N/A, and fill out the rest." Probably could have thought of that before yesterday, myself, but my excuse is once I hit snags like that, I immediately hop back on Craigslist and other job sites.

Or play games, which has become easier thanks to my Gamecube controller's up command on the control stick working again!

Forward: Not a direction you think would be a problem in games, but here we are.

I think I was finally able to clean out the gunk well enough, so it's good to know that's most likely all it was. Of course, I'll have to play more games than just Sonic Adventure 2: Battle to make sure it works in all the games; mostly it's menus I usually have a problem with, as characters can usually be controlled with up-but-slightly-right/left movement of the stick. Menus worked yesterday, though, so I'm hoping the trend continues. I'd like to just open it and clean it proper, too, but I have to figure out where we keep our triangle-headed screwdrivers first. Last I checked, the location of that location does not exist. Well ... at least it works now.

I might even consider taking some games when I visit Nacogdoches/SFASU (my alma mater) this weekend, and stay with my friend Austin. Might not, though, as there'll be lots of people to visit, and I'm sure, stuff to do.

Although I probably can't do it, might be fun to watch the race thing. Kinda sad I missed "90s Photobooth," though.

Oh, I'm also planning to sign up as a book reviewer for some website, so I want to finish reading Catching Fire, so I can both write a review and avoid spoilers as the movie is hyped.

It does have some cool promotional artwork, though.

Well, I'm off to do that now. I'll talk to you guys later. Have a great one, Pixlbit!

It's fun, but the controls seem looser than I remember, and locking on to enemies isn't as easy as I remember. Maybe I did something to the controller while "fixing" it? lol

I thought the up direction was screwed up on my N64 controller the other day. It turns out I just had to reset the system since I had held it down when I turned it on or something. It's funny how such a little thing can make so much of a difference. I'm glad to hear your cousin's family is safe Joe.

I always leave my controller alone when the system loads, cause there's a manual or something that says not to do that. This controller has had the problem for a LONG time, though, so it wasn't that, although maybe I was less cautious when I was younger, which could have helped cause it for sure.

And thanks.

The GameCube was a system I sadly missed out on. Granted, I have one now, but I'm afraid that I got it nearly 10 years late and it'll take me quite some time before I ever get back to it to check out all the great games it had. The only game I ever really played was Mario Kart Double Dash...

Such a shame..

That is a good one, though. I'd recommend Eternal Darkness, F-Zero GX, and any Metroid, Mario/Luigi, or Metroid title.

I'd also say Viewtiful Joe, and I myself would like to play RE:4 and Beyond Good & Evil at some point.

Good that your family is ok.  Keep working on the job thing and it'll work out too.

yeah, beware some of those craigs list things.  Total scams.

Yeah, but I know how to differentiate between the ones that are and aren't, and never provide financial information, so I should be ok.

Well, the opportunities have, anyway, the actual check was from the job I've had since last year. lol

2012 and 2013 are not the best years I could have graduated with debt though, no. lol

Well, good luck with working! Book reviews, eh? Sounds difficult, but fun. I like my books at about 200 pages because otherwise I get sidetracked and take forever to finish them!

I lied about finishing Catching Fire earlier; I am only now starting "Part III." I get sidetracked easily, too.

But in my defense, by "sidetracked," I mean I ate, walked, cashed a check, looked up more jobs, and THEN got on Pixlbit, then back to reading so I'd say my version of sidetracked is still productive, even if I did technically get sidetracked. lol
