God of War & Rocksmith 2014

After playing the first chapter of God of War, it's going fine. The gameplay feels super standard, but it's ... ok. Just got done fighting The Stranger. I also do not have the same problems Julian does with the small boy. Sounds like a pretty good child voice actor to me so far. Then again, maybe he repeats himself more later on. We'll see.

I get annoyed with Rocksmith for several reasons. For one, it gets tiresome to retune my guitar for certain songs only to have the game not recognize anything I do on the Big E string until I retune the thing again. For another, as someone who already knows how to play guitar, and I know I've said this before but it really annoys me because it'd be so easy to program in, it disappoints me there isn't a mode for just looking at the tabs. Some of the songs are tabbed differently from the way I've learned to play them, some of them seem slightly off or it's difficult to tell exactly what the game wants me to do (do you want alternate picking or all downstrokes for this section of repeated notes you're not showing me?), some of them seem to conflate ryhtm and lead parts in places, but ALL of them could just be shown to me on a still screen so I could practice them before playing in time to the game ... which is how I've always learned.

Also, Gravity Rush 2 needs to quit its shit with these stealth missions it isn't designed for. Same thing for A Hat in Time, though that game at least seems more fair ... I just don't need stealth in my platformers.

I'm hoping they port Yakuza 3-5 to PS4 so I can play the series in order after Kiwami 2 comes out. I'm planning on picking up games I missed but want this year, like Detroit Become Human in winter sales.

That's all I got.

Also, I'm stuck on a very early part of VVVVVV and I'm kind of embarrased about it. Don't @ me if that's the incorrect number of Vs.

I'd like to pick up several games I've missed this year already: Ni No Kuni II, Dragon's Crown Pro, and God of War (didn't actually miss it but didn't finish it either).

I completely forgot Ni No Kuni II came out this year ... then again, I know I won't like the gameplay and really just want it for the art style.

I am probably the same about the gameplay, but I've yet to see for myself. Those graphics really draw me in.

One of the reasons why I stopped playing games like Gravity Rush 2, A Hat in Time, and even Beyond Good & Evil is that the stealth sections sucked.  The only game I thought had fun stealth sections was the Ape Escape series.

I think BG&E would be fine if it allowed me to play with a controller. That game was NOT made for keyboard and mouse, so whoever decided that needed to be the input on PC was smoking something.

Personally I liked Atreus in God of War. He had moments where he got a little obnoxious, but never more than a kid should be and Kratos would usually respond proportionately. The story kind of needs him to be that way too so Kratos can struggle being a parent. My issue was that the gameplay was boring and frustrating in all the wrong ways. The weight and impact behind everything was fantastic, but the combat felt even more repetitive than the past games while upgrades and armor didn't add enough.

Yeah, so far I'm agreeing, except that the story seems decent and I can't compare to older games, having not played them.

I like the game's story actually, wish I could enjoy the gameplay enough to finish it

I have that same feeling about several games. I get it.

Fortunately a hat in time doesn't have that many stealth sections. I only remember one, but that one was kind of irritating. Haven't played gravity rush 2 (or the first one). How is it apart from the stealth?

Rocks it is something that's always looked interesting to me but I also already know guitar and have kind of wondered if it would just be tedious to people who aren't beginners.

I think Julians criticisms of atreus are more apparent later in the game. They didn't annoy me personally but I can see how they would annoy others. I was more annoyed at how kratos handled certain things regarding atreus than atreus himself.

Yeah there are only 5 vs, not 6 :p

The non-stealth parts of Gravity Rush 2 are fun, yet repetitive. Gameranx's review of 2 described it as a "solid 7.5 kinda game" and I totally agree with that assessment for both games, though I still have yet to finish 2. The anti-gravity mechanics are fun to use and the games are decent, short action/adventure fare. What does sometimes get to me is how easy it is to run into geometry, and the games have parts that are very standard and kinda dull, hence the 7.5. I'd recommend them on sale.

It is kinda tedious if you're not a beginner, but I also find the arcade mode somewhat enjoyable and the lessons outside the songs are helpful/help you keep your chops up. Honestly, if the game would just let me see the damn tabs outside of the song player, it'd be great.

I guess I'll see.

Well, shit shit shit shit shit.

7 main series games total (0-6), the two Kiwami remakes, at least two set in feudal Japan, a PSP game and something else I'm forgetting, I'm sure.
