I'm pretty sure I'm on IGN's side

I've noticed a couple of their reviews, specifically for Shenmue III and Death Stranding, have middle-of-the-road review scores and note either outdated (Shenmue III) or boring (Death Stranding) gameplay.

While Julian Titus gushing about Death Stranding on Twitter has made me curious, the criticisms I saw in their video review make perfect sense to me, and if Shenmue III plays anything like the first game, which I played very recently and loved, then it IS outdated. I understand that Shenmue fans like myself want it that way, and I'll likely get it when I finish Shenmue II, but be honest with yourselves, oh Twitter whiners.

Anyway, this was just another reason for me to shit on Twitter, which I still kind of resent being the only other website where all my gaming friends are cause I just hate it so, so much.

Fuck Twitter. 5/10.

Twitter is the asshole of the universe. Yell

I'm not saying other social media is better, but yes I am. The absolute worst people congregate on fucking Twitter. And the fillers don't seem to work as well on such a public platform.

It seems to bring out the worst in people. Perhaps it's the anonymity.

I'm rather indifferent towards Twitter. I haven't used it enough to experience all the dark stuff.

I heard GameInformer talk about Death Stranding. They said it was worth checking out; that it attempts new things, and even they don't exactly add up to fun, they're still worth playing.

I bet it is still worth playing ... I'll rent first.

I may rent it too.

I was seriously hoping that Twitter would complete its visit down the drain it was circling and die forever. Then it became the White House soapbox.

He has to have broken so many community guidelines by now ...

Death Stranding is a game I'm loving that I cannot recommend to most people.

Probably means I would love it, honestly.

Its weird because I'm actually looking forward to playing Shemnue 3 because it's made as if it were developed in 1999, so a sort of retro throwback which is why it appeals to me. KH3 also kind of feels like a ps2 game in HD and it gave me a sense of nostalgia and really liked that it felt kind of outdated, in its level design, except for  a couple of large open areas that felt more modern.

I feel more or less the same and that's my point. As long as they tell you why the rating is what it is, they're doing their job.

Maybe I've become more sensitive about this from grading student writing and hearing the most asinine arguments about why they deserve an A ...

I am curious to try both Shenmue III and Death Stranding, the latter more than the former. But I think I'll wait for a decent price drop before that happens.

As a Canadian gamer I am loath to pay $80 for a game unless it is something I really want like DQXI or Luigi's Mansion 3.

I'll rent before buying. Genuine question: is the health care/increased social welfare worth the taxes you pay?

Absolutely.  I choose my own doctor, can see them as many times as I need and if I have to have a hospital stay at some point I won't have to drain my bank account and take out a loan to pay for it.

My father who just passed away in September was in and out of hospital for the last year and finally died after 8 days in a hospital. My mum would have been homeless if we had to do that in the USA. In Canada it cost us nothing.

Oh and the game prices are more to do with the fact that our dollar is only worth 75 cents USD.

But is life worth living without games being $20 cheaper? Hmmm. This is a pickle.

Depends on how much you make, but from a minimum wage point of view we just wait for deals, and only spend full price on games that we really want to play. Where as before when the CAD had parity with USD we would spend it without much thought.

I didn't know you were also in Canada. Anyway, what you described is exactly what I do in the U.S. anyway, so not much different that way.

We might pay more in taxes though haha. $80 turns into $90. I paid that much for Link's Awakening remake ugh, but was happy to pay that for Luigi's Mansion 3.

Oh, yeah, you definitely pay more than we do. I'm just saying most Americans have the same mentality when it comes to paying for games.

I don't even have a Twitter account.  I probably should, but I just don't have the time or much interest to mess with it.

Don't do it.

Niche games. Don't know how anybody invloved with those games expect good sales, or more stable reviews.

I don't know if I'd call Death Stranding niche. It looks like it had a large budget, a huge name attached to it in Hideo Kojima, as well as Guillermo del Toro and other actors (yes I know he specifically is famous for directing), and a decent amount of marketing.

Shenmue III though, yes. Very niche game.
