I concede to the PC Master Race

I may or may not have got drunk and argued with IT people about PC vs. console on Facebook. I may or may not have said something fairly ignorant about what ROG Strix (part of my laptop's name) means exactly.

And then any game that I can't run on my laptop despite its specs being more than required and having plenty of space available became my fault. I'm sure it is. But why do I want to worry about what I'm doing wrong/firewall settings/in-game settings etc. when I can just download a game and go on console?

I turned off notifications and I have to assume they are still calling me stupid this very minute. You win, PC Master Race. Just never, ever make me have to deal with you again, please. You are insufferable.

Yeah, but there are assholes of all persuasions out there. Best not to get involved with people you don't know on the internet.

I maintain they are a special breed.

To me, games are supposed to be fun, and figuring out if a game can work on my computer is not fun.  Plus, most of the games I like to play aren't on computers anyway.

You know what's weird is that I started out as a PC gamer.  Our first gaming 'system' was actually an Apple ][+.  I didn't get an Atari until many years later, and even then it was a 5200.

Ditto ... Even the starting out as a PC gamer bit, though while I played on an Apple like that, most of the stuff in my mom's middle school computer lab had stuff like Gizmos & Gadgets on it.

I've never been a huge PC gamer. A lot of the games I enjoy aren't on PC. I've pretty much used laptops for the past ten years. And after my last Windows laptop croaked, I bought a used MacBook Air instead, and for my purposes, it's the best computer I ever owned, and I'm in no hurry to go back to Windows. So consoles it is.

My adobe stuff works so I'm good. But i bought pc so my steam stuff could still work cause i don't want to admit how much money I've wasted on games i don't play.

Although I have amassed hundreds of games on Steam I don't play them. I can't remember the last time I logged into my account.

I thought if I bought a controller I'd start playing them but I tried a Steam controller and didn't like it so it is collecting dust somewhere.

Then I picked up an Xbox wireless controller. That worked much better but other than about 40 hours of Grandia II it still didn't make me like gaming on a PC any better.

I keep Windows around for business reasons (even that is becoming less of a requirement these days) but my main computer is a MacBook Pro and all my gaming is on consoles. PS4 and Switch for the most part.

Most of pc gaming is knowing what specs you have, and from that knowing your limitations on expectations of the quality of gaming you're going to get/getting. Completely different than consoles. just use the experience that makes you happy/less stressful.

I've never had to deal with firewall settings affecting gameplay, so I assume it was a multiplayer based game? I rarely if ever do multiplayer gaming haha.

Well, yes, but when I have so far beyond the required specs and space and something built for Windows 10 still doesn't run, it gets a bit annoying.

And no multiplayer, Sunset Overdrive just refused to launch and Steam forums said some people got it to go by taking down their Avast firewall or having it give the game a pass ... Did that, nothing happened, so I got a refund.

Definitely fault on the developer/publisher side. Same shit happened with RDR 2, not to me, but for a lot of people it did.

RDR 2 actually wouldn't run on my PS4 ... it's literally the only time I have experienced something like that on a console outisde of one or two PS2 rentals that worked when I got a different disc for them.

I attempted PC gaming in the early 2000s. I never had the money to keep up on graphics cards and my attempts at networking for certain games didn't go well. I mainly stuck to casual stuff on PC. These days I'd like to get back into it because of Steam and Good Old Games. There's lots of stuff that isn't too difficult for a PC to run. For triple A stuff though, it's console all the way.

Yeah, AAA stuff is hit or miss for me. Really depends on publisher/developer.

I joke about PC Master Race all the time with people but I never take it seriously. If you enjoy a game on one platform, that's all that should matter. I like playing on both PC, and Console, hell last night I sunk over an hour on Andorid trying to unlock a car. The game is easily 3 years old yet there I was pretend steering on a tablet trying to earn enough Winter Credits to unlock a stupid car that I'll probably use a handful of times.

Just don't be around people who take things way too seriously. Those folks can't see the big picture and think their bubble is the best.

Luckily, I'm not around these people. Have never and likely will never deal with them in peron.
