Favorite Feel-Good Games?

What games just lift your spirits when you're in a bad mood?

For me, it's just about any arcade racer or karting game. They're such stripped down experiences completely focused on fun and people don't seem to get AS upset when they lose in these things like they would in say, a fighter.

Currently hoping GameFly might send Crash Team Racing my way despite its low availability (still!) and wishing they'd bring Burnout back, but I'll be happy with NFS Heat coming in the mail as well.

Platformers are also high on the list. I should really get back to playing A Hat in Time. The only issue that I've always had with these games: Sometimes I'm not sure where to go or I need to collect one last doohickey I can't figure out how I missed.

I've also found MLB The Show '19 fairly relaxing and have been enjoying NBA 2K20 despite sucking at it. I'm always happy when PS+ gives me a sports title for free, since I really don't play these otherwise anymore.

I got the Crash Team Racing remake for Christmas.  The graphics are amazing.  It's crazy how far we've come.

I think pretty much any game I play is a good mood happy game.  So just think about what I would play.  But some examples I can think of are Animal Crossing, classic arcade games, Katamari Damacy, Mr. Driller, Kirby, Loco Roco, and so on.

I dunno, if you think about Kirby a bit too hard it gets pretty dark. Tongue Out Kidding. I definitely appreciate that you game for fun first and foremost. Smile

Well you're not wrong.  Kirby final bosses can get pretty dark.  That's why I didn't put Klonoa on my list of feel good games for you, because while the game looks colorful and cutesy, it has one of the SADDEST endings I've ever see in a video game!

My current obsession, Farm Together, is one such. You can take your time if you want or work like a devil. Benefits are always coming your way.

It looks bright and colorful too. Always a good sign.

The original three Ratchet & Clank games always put me in a good mood. Yonder is another good one, and Flower mellows out my anxiety.

I need to buy Flower. I enjoed Journey and the underwater game (forget the name) and the ballerina game that may or may not have been the same studio but seemed really similar to those games.

You mentioned Yonder to me last time and I think I'll add it to my GameFly list if they have it. It really does look relaxing.

I love how all of thatgamecompany's games have a similar vibe, but very different feel from each other. When Jason and I were still living together, he wandered out from the kitchen one night while I was playing Flower and watched for a little bit, then remarked that it was like watching poetry. I laughed, and told him that was what it was supposed to be, a visual poem.

I think Yonder may be a download only title, but I'm not sure.

GameFly has it for Switch, but nothing else.

It crops up for sale on a fairly regular basis in the PSN store. I think I paid half price for it.

Duly noted.

Final Fantasy IX would have to be my go to feel-good game, but I know you don't like turn based battles.

I think 3D Mario games are infectious with their pure positive feelings. I really enjoyed playing Super Mario Odyssey last year. I had a smile on my face the whole time.

Super Mario Odyssey does look good, but I heard the other day Switches are ridiculously expensive right now due to high demand and low supply. In fact, I just looked it up and Wal Mart has them for $499.99 without tax. Hell no!
