Backlogerry.com: I want a

Just filled out a backloggery.com account for the games I still own and have access to (well, I don't know where Pokemon Blue is still, but anyway), and one thing I noticed is that you can say beaten for beat the main goal (usually getting past final boss to see credits, etc.), completed for all significant items acquired, like 100%, and Mastered, which I take to mean both everything completed and all highest ranks/achievements earned, but what about games I wouldn't say I've 100% completed, but have gone far beyond simply beating them?

Like in Super Smash Bros. Melee, I still have three event matches to do, but practically everything outside of that is done. I've been logging games like that as "complete," cause I feel like "beaten" is selling me short, but it feels kind of disingenuous. I'd prefer to have an almost or mostly complete button.

Oh well, my nitpick for today, I guess.

Anyway, if you're curious what games I have/haven't completed, my profile there is under JOSTEPH. This is a pie chart of my backlog.Turns out, I do finish the main storyline of most games, but don't usually complete them 100%, and 40% is a pretty sizable "unfinished" chunk.

The black portion is for "null," as in Metroid Prime Hunters is a demo, and I don't count it.

14 (U)   40%
9 (B)   25.7%
12 (C)

34.3%

I'd join, but I'm afraid my chart would look like a Red Pac-Man.

On the plus side however, I've been catching up on my backlog, slowly but surely!

Not too shabby for the games I could remember of the top of my head!

Looks pretty similar to mine. I think we both owe it to ourselves to eat a cookie.

I think that it deals with whether or not you feel as though you completed the game.  There are plenty of games where I feel satisfied with just beating it, and that is as far as I want to go.  I completedmy goal, isnt that all that matters.

I'm anally retentive enough that I need to see things like that visually, so to me that's not ALL that matters, but I see your point. And this is a silly thing anyway, I'm just nitpicky. lol

This will be a very interesting site to join. Helps to know how hopelessly backlogged you really are! But it will be cool to see what others have in their collections.

Yeah, the way I'm using it is to get my money's worth out of everything I own while I'm still financially shaky.

I really need to update my Backloggery. I have a ton of games I bought since my last update.

I use the different status options a little differently. Played through the story: Beat, accomplish everything I wanted to: Complete, and for everything else (as long as it has trophies) I use the percentage of trophies.

I agree there should be another option between beaten and complete, but for now I guess it would be up to the user on where they're gamepley would fall. I'm GoAztecs on Backloggery

I mean, that's essentially how I'm using it right now, I just like to break things down into what they really are, so even though I don't care that much about three event matches, I still feel it exists between beaten and complete. Oh well, I can just beat my unfinished games.

The backloggery has helped me a lot in focusing on my backlog. It's much easier to resist buying games with that hideous list staring me in the face lol.

Yeah, I'm wondering if it'll help me sell stuff I don't want when I suddenly realize "wait ... I don't want to beat this, I hate this game." lol

I think Pac-Man is eating your completed games. lol

I was debating joining the site, but i got my backlogged down to like a handful of games..So it would not be worth it anymore. Hey keep on chipping away my man!

I wonder how soon I'll be there, considering several of these are right at the end. lol

I wander over every now and then, add a few more games, get depressed and leave, lol. My pie chart would look like Lee's if I added all my games.

Honestly, the whole point is to squeeze all the enjoyment out of these things as possible, so if you feel satisfied playing only part of a game, I say meh. I just don't see me spending on anything too substantial in the near future, so may as well continue to reap the benefits of games I already have. And cry at how much data I apparently lost on F-Zero GX. Might just be that I need to answer that memory card question I get when it boots up differently, though.

I'm pretty commited when it comes to completing games. I think mine would probably look like a yellow Pac-Man! It helps that I usually only play one or two games at a time. The games I don't complete are games that I honestly didn't like that much and the odd game that's too much like a black hole to complete (Monster Hunter is the only one I can think of right now)!

Super Step Contributing Writer

Complete or just beat? Or is Monster Hunter really so dense you can't even beat it in a sane amount of time?

Halochief90

Yeah, just beat. Monster Hunter is very MMOish in its length and is also incredibly hard to add to that.

My backlog is humongous but I keep persevering  I held off from buying any games for a while since Dark Souls kept me busy. But I bought a couple games real cheap at gamestop the other day so my backlog just got bigger. To fool myself and the pie chart, I only add games I have completed so it doesn't look as bad. Mine would be completely red if I added all my games.

Hey, whatever works.

I have the tendency to leave games unfinished, so if I ever get a backlogery acount and do a chart of ALL the games, a red Pac-Man would be possible.

Super Step Contributing Writer

I would honestly imagine that to be the norm among most video game enthusiasts/players; these things are a real time sink in many cases, and if you don't feel like getting to the end, why should you, really?

thought about making an account but I hardly have enough time to keep track of my blogging/comment/library on other sites. If it updated on the fly I'd reconsider.
